I am expereinced in online training, teleconferences, webinars and also live seminar facilitation.

Are any of you doing this type of work and if so does anyone have any advice as to how to get business.

I feel that with the way things are going with all the unemployment and now the Stimulas program, so many people will need skill training that soon there should be a real need for trainers.

Anyone out there have any ideas on how we could get in on this market?

I think that is an excellent idea. Maybe it would be a good idea to figure out exactly who you want to help out, your target market, and just be very clear.

It's very attractive to target everyone, but from my experience in sales, it's sometimes better to focus and get to know your potential clients. Going for a broad market might get you less than focusing on a niche market.

I would recommend one of my favorite authors named Seth Godin. Check him out. His books are real easy to read and very informative. My favorite from his is called Purple Cow where he talks about being excellent instead of mediocre. It's hard to be the best when targeting a large market, but maybe more realistic if you're targeting a smaller niche market. He says that when you're excellent, people listen to you, spread the word about you, and therefore it's easier to expand your business.

Another good book for you might be Blue Ocean Strategy.

Let me know if you have any questions. I love sharing what I've learned.

Thank you so much for your reply! I agree with you about finding aniche, so that is what I am working on.

I have read some of Seth Godin's material. But not Purple Cow so I will check that out and I have not heard of Blue Ocean Strategy so I am going to buy both of those today!!

Thanks again for your help and I'll report back when I make any progress.

Tell me a little about your background. Are you a trainer and/or consultant?

I am a sales rep for a mid-sized company. I don't want to be too specific about the name of the company for obvious reasons, but they've grown almost triple the size and have increased their revenue by the same amount. I have been in sales for around 10 years now. I work from home 2-3 days out of the week.

Let me know what you think of those books.

I can help you out more if you tell me more details about your specific business goals and strategies, your target/niche, and what you are offering to others.

I agree with your analysis of the market. It doesn't look too good, but that's why we have to help each other out. The strong will survive, and I believe that there is power in numbers. So if we can all help each other, that would be best.

Hello! I do live seminars/classes on various health and medical topics, such as First Aid, CPR, communicable disease, etc. I use my RN degree as we as being a certified instructor with a national company.
I have tried to identify my market and then focus my marketing towards that area. It is a challenge for me at times, trying to hit the right target but I work on it a bit at a time :)
What type of seminars and conferences do you offer?
