Hi everyone, I posted this on the Jafra site too. I just wanted some input on choosing a home business . How did you decide between cosmetic companies??? I am looking at Jafra and Arbonne. I went to an Artistry party last night but I really was not impressed with their hostess program. I have talked with consultants from both companies but I still am having trouble choosing between them. I have tried Arbonne re9. Good products buta little heavy for me. I haven't tried Jafra yet but it seems like they have a good reputation. Any advice would be appreciated.

I looked at the compensation plan and the team that I'd be working with. Those were the 2 most important factors in my decision. I also looked at product offering and variety, training available, and market saturation. (Arbonne is ground floor where I live.)

By the way, if the RE9 is too heavy for your skin type, get a sample of the basic line and try that. You might like that better.

Feel free to PM me if you have additional questions.

Hello Bessiebee,

What products do you like better? It sounds simple but the products you fall in LOVE with are the products you'll feel better representing. You may wish to try products from both companies.

Beyond that, I looked at the overall potential for earning a living (I was coming off a 15 year highly successful corporate career). I looked at the financials (which, as you probably know, are terrific for Arbonne), growth projections, etc. etc.

Lastly, I looked at who would be sponsoring me. My sponsor happens to be a dear friend of mine who I trust implicitly. She's an attorney and I am a corporate "escapee" turned stay-at-home mom so we were very cognizant about joining a venture that was financially sound.

And lastly, I'd suggest that you not complicate your decision too much. Sometimes you have to use your "gut" and just go with it. There are SO many companies to choose from that you can spend a ton of time researching them without making a decision. The time you spend researching could mean time you could spend building your business.

I guess at the end of the day, I could sell anything, provided I really believe in it!

I remember PMing you a long time back in like Oct. Hope all is going well. Anyhow I don't do shows so I don't do host programs. My ENVP was with Jafra for 16 yrs I believe and then switched to Arbonne now 18 yrs. Maybe you would like to talk to her sometime.. Just let her know you got her name from me. Her name is Thea... www.askthea.com (http://www.askthea.com) or email thea@askthea.com

She might be able to give you more detail of why she switched or what the differences are since she was with both. Just a thought? Has the person you talked to with Arbonne show you the opp. presentation. It ison www.arbonne.com (http://www.arbonne.com) main page.

If you need more help I would love to help you out.. if you are talking to someone I am sure they would be glad to answer all your questions too. Hope you find what your looking for.. GOOD LUCK!!!

Bessiebee,

As I am sure you already realized the deciding factors for us are going to be different than what they are for you. Just because we all have different needs & perspectives.

Decide what are making& breaking points for you. I don't know anything about jafra so I can't speak to them, just Arbonne. There are concrete things you can compare.

Compare compensation plans. Compare number of product lines, like which ones offer a wider variety of industries? What training do both offer & is there a difference? What monthly requirements are there to be active & also to get paid? How do each companies view & listen to their consultants in the field? How stable are both businesses? Credit ratings? What are the promotional plans of each? Maintenance plans? What are the onuses in each? What are the differences in approaches for building your business? What is the growth in the last few years for each?

Then there are things that aren't so concrete that you have to consider which you prefer for yourself. Which products do you prefer & will you use more of? We offer a lot more than just skin care so don't limit yourself to RE9. Passion & belief in the products are SO important. That will help to keep you going & to help you build. People will be drawn to your excitement.

Which philosphies of each company do you believe in, what's important to you? Ingredents used? Packaging? Results? There are a lot of variables that are just a matter of taste.

Sponsor & ethics of company & field consultants. Again, this is what you personally clicks with. Do you have a relationship with anyone in either company? Who you pick for your sponsor is very important b/c this person should help you build your business. They will help teach you. They will help motivate you. This business is all about duplication so will you be proud to duplicate your sponsor & then in turn have people duplicate you?

As cheesy as it sounds make a comparison list. Have concrete things on there & then the variables that aren't so concrete. You'll have a feeling about each company in each instance. Write them down. Hopefully if your gut isn't telling you which way to go then seeing stuff in black & white will help it to beome clear.

If you make a decision & still don't have a specific person to sign up with then build relationships with people in that company. PM some of the people on the boards & get to know them. Ask them questions. It's ok to do that, just be honest on where you are in the process that way you don't give anyone false hpes about the possibility of sponsoring you or not.

Good luck in your decision. trust yourself to make the right one. And if you need anything else just ask!Edited by: Soonergirl74

Hi Bessiebee~

I sent you a pm as well...I did a full month of research on skin care, cosmetics, ingredients, different companies, compensation plans, etc before I joined Arbonne. I am willing to pass on what made me join Arbonne after all of that if you are interested. Just let me know.

A couple basic things I would say (I agree with the other posts on here as well):

*Go with whichever company you feel like you believe in/can stand behind the most. This will make your success so much better. I truly believe that one of the main reasons that people join my team and/or buy products from me is because they can see how much I fully believe Arbonne (the company and the products)is the best out there. If you feel that way about Arbonne, JOIN. If you feel that way about Jafra, JOIN.

*Do your research/comparing. Make sure that you know the differences in the products, the philosophy of the company, and the compensation plan. All of this will add to the success of your business and your confidence in it.

*Join the best team that you can find...one that will train you and help you to succeed in your business. I know without a doubt that pretty much any woman on this board would love to have you on their team...but not just that. They would _devote_ themselves to helping you succeed in Arbonne....they will train you, encourage you, and challenge you.Whether you join Arbonne or not, find a team like that.

Ok, that is my 2 (well, I guess 3) cents. If you have any more questions, just ask. Everyone on this board is super helpful and they want you to find the best fit for you. Best of luck and let us know what you decide.
