I am at my wit's end. I have searched daily for a WAHM job. I check this site daily, as well as Craigslist and other sites. I poured over the sticky post of companies that hire WAHMs and applied to all of them that interested me. I have been looking for a WAH job for a couple of years now and it has come down to a point where I must find something soon. So, I poured over the company list again and applied to all that sort of interested me. The only thing I have not applied for is sales. It's just not something I feel I can do.
I have been handicapped since I was 16 (many, many years ago). My work experience has been sporatic, but includes customer service, data entry, legal and inventory. I have a certification in graphic design (talk about a competitve field) and am also proficient with web design. I know my way inside, outside, upside down around a computer. I think many companies see my sporadic work experience and automatically disqualify me. It's frustrating because I am capable of doing any job I set my mind to do. But who is going to give me a chance?
Due to my handicap, working outside the home is no longer a viable option for me. However, my husband makes just enough that I do not qualify for any sort of assistance, so those companies that only hire people on SSDI and the like, I can't qualify for. :(
I have begun using eHow, but that takes time to build up and I am getting desperate. Of all the places I have applied, I have only heard back from a mere handful. Of those, I was asked to take some tests and online training type stuff and then told that when something came up I would be contacted......nada.
So, now I turn to you ladies (and gentlemen). Lately, I have even taken to applying for jobs that I am not that interested in, just because I've got to find something. Although, sales is still the last resort for me. What am I doing wrong? Is there someplace that I am not looking?

I'm sorry to hear that you're not having any luck. The only thing I can tell you is to be patient and something will come; normally when you don't even expect it. Stay on the boards, keep applying and please don't give up....Best Wishes

If you enjoy writing for eHow, have you applied to write through Demand Studios? They pay $15 per article and pay on a weekly basis. www.demandstudios.com

Thanks for the advice ladies. I will check out Demand Studios and I added that link to my bookmarks. I will keep looking. It just gets so frustrating, after searching for so long.

CanI ask, why don't you want to do sales? Sometimes we have to do things we don't think we have a skillset for but find that once we try it it's something we excel at.

I checked out the ratracerebellion link...thanks for that. I found several places listed there that I previously did not know about and applied for them.
Thanks ladies (and apparently gentlemen) for your encouragement. I will continue to look, but sometimes we all just need a little encouragement smileys/smiley17.gif

I am also disabled(from birth) and my SSI is going away as well due to my husband's income(he is a US Marine).
I have been working KeyforCash and freelanestaffing.net(I do not have a project with them yet) and freelancestaffing has been very understanding with me about my issues so I say apply to them.
Good Luck and I hope you find something soon.
