O.k, I should know this by now, but I am training a bb out of town so I want to make sure I have it correct. We pay sales tax on the retail value, but only sales tax, for instance, the 100 for 20, we pay sales tax on $20. Same w/ the RSVP, just the $350? Also, do we pay sales tax on the $29 fee? And, I am pretty sure we pay sales tax on the shipping charge, which doesn't make sense to me so I want to confirm this. Thanks!

Yes you are correct that we charge on retail value, $20 (for $100), and on shipping. Also, we do charge sales tax on the $29.

Congrats on your BB!

I believe the tax on shipping depends on what state you're in - I can't say for sure but I think it is.

So, is it across the board, or just for certain states?

It's just for certain states.

just play around with your order form online and see how it works out for you.... at first I didn't realize that we paid tax on retail prices, even though we are paying wholesale prices.... and shipping is figured on the retail volume amount, not the wholesale price....

This is a very good question, and a great one to post!

Sales tax on shipping is not the norm. It varies by state, and sometimes is only charged on the handling portion.

NY and WA at present do require sales tax on shipping.

In order to simplify it for you new BB, it is best to refer them to his/herlocal tax authority to determine how their particular state handles it!

It doesn't have to be difficult, but it is not a standard answer across the board!

No Cindi, and since I don't go out of state that often, I always think people are overcharging me when Imake my first purchase or two while travelling, lol! I'm awful with math, so I'm always glad to get back home where things cost just what they say on the price tag smileys/smiley1.gif
