Brighter Planet is deep into the development of a super slick web platform that will make it easier for anyone to become an environmentalist.
We’re looking for a Community Manager who will help build, engage and nurture our tribe. This will be a contract position with the potential to go perm if both parties are interested. Telecommuters are welcome to apply.

What you’ll do:
- Blog about what’s happening at Brighter Planet; including developments with our web platform, company events, initiatives from our allies, etc.
- Solicit, evaluate, disseminate, and respond to feedback from customers.
- Review content on our web platform that has been flagged for moderation.
- Provide key strategic role in social media initiatives.
- Locate and become involved in the appropriate web communities, blogs, forums, etc.
- Develop and foster relationships on all appropriate social media channels (Twitter/FriendFeed, Facebook/MySpace, YouTube/Vimeo, etc).
- Write or edit key content for our web platform, ensuring that it adheres to our editorial style guide and maintains the appropriate voice.
- Foster our company’s values of transparency, authentic communication and social change.

Who you are:
- You have a blog. You post several times/week. You receive 20+ comments per post. You respond to a number of those comments.
- You love Twitter. You have >200 followers. You know the difference between @ and #.
- You know what the Cluetrain Manifesto is without having to Google it.
- You can explain the strengths and weaknesses of Facebook and can name your favorite apps.
- You’ve met some of your best friends online, some of whom you’ve never actually met in person.
- You can rattle off names of popular bloggers and Internet rock stars.
- You’re a brilliant writer, conversational and authentic by nature.
- You’ve worked at a startup before.
- You believe the Internet is a series of tubes.
- You spend WAY too much time online.

Huge bonus if:
- You’re passionate and well versed about the environment.
- You’re already influential in the climate change movement.
- This is the job you’ve been dreaming about.
