I sell Arbonne, but I was just told by my sister that her neighbor sells Mary Kay (just started) and makes 50% commission! Is this true?? That seems so high! (Don't worry, im not looking to switch!) Just wanted to see what you all knew. I swear that i heard somewhere that they made less than us. I just hope her friend didn't get the wrong information

The 50% only comes into play when you meet the $400 retail order. If I'm not mistaken, that is one complete order, not cumlative but I could be wrong.

$400 retail initial order which is $200 wholesale. Every other order
after that in the same month is 50% off no matter what amount.
Starts over each month, but you are not required to order every
month. I'm pretty sure that's how it goes with them, but a Mary Kay rep
would be able to tell you for sure how their ordering works.

It's true they get 50%. They are very good on the front end, not
so good for residual income as far as I have heard. They are
dual-level, not multi-level, making me think they get paid on their
volume and that of those they personally sponsor, but no one
else. I don't know if thta is accurate or not, but I do know that
the residual income potential for arbonne is much higher.

If you place an order with Arbonne that totals $350...you will be getting that order at 48% off... The same holds true for larger orders... ($500 order... you would get at 48% off)
A $350 order would be entered as a $250 order (you pay$162.50) and $100 for $20... ( you pay $20)....So, for this $350 order, you will pay only $182.50.....thus, your 48% discount! smileys/smiley1.gif
You can actually get up to about 80% off... Whenever I have an order going in.. I will call loyal customers and ask if they need anything.. that I am placing an order. Alot of my customers will order hand creams.. herbal foot care.. (on that $250 order, I can order 5 @ $5/each)... so that increases my commission percentages.....

Yes, I suppose that could add up fast. However I think being able to make residual money off multi-levels of people adds up a lot faster, even at a smaller percentage. I have been doing a lot of research into MK b/c I like to know my competition. I have noticed some common things.One is that it is very difficult to makeDIQ. And it seems once you get there you have to workyour behind off to keep it. From what I understand a lot of Director's still have to have day jobs. Also,I've seen discussion of the checksDirector's would get & I don't think they compare toa lotof the checks I know people in Arbonne are getting. I saw on one board people were amazed at a fairly small amount for residual income which would lead me to believe that the "gangster money" isn't all that common.
OK, you said you make it on your personal recruits. So that means people want to go very wide in MK, right? That means you are always out there recruiting people in case someone drops out or stops selling, which I know can happen fairly often. If it's a big earner for you that could really hurt. And from what I've read it isn't all that unusual for people to lose their directorship. So I would assume that means they lose that residual incomethey were getting.

Yes, all consultants, whether brand new, or National Sales Directors, receive 50% of their sales.
The first order needs to be $200 wholesale (400 retail) in order to be eligible for the 50% off which lasts for the remainder of the month in which the order was placed and the following two months. So easy to achieve if a consultant is holding even one skin care class per month. Usually, consultants choose to have inventory and that is their first order.
We are paid a commission from Mary Kay Corporate based on our wholesale team production. (the orders of our personal recruits). This is either 4, 9 or 13% depending where you are in the career path and how many team members are ordering that month. Our commissions for recruiting come from the company, not our recruits' commissions.
I personally don't see it as a need to basis to recruit. It's part of successfully working the MK business full circle. Book, sell, book, recruit. The recruiting checks are just a bonus to my personal sales. They're love checks.

In Arbonne, our override commissions and bonuses can far exceed anything we could ever earn by retailing! So it's more than just a "bonus to personal sales", it's "gangster money" as soonergirl called it!smileys/smiley36.gif

In MK our commission checks, especially as a sales director, can be far more than personal sales. What I meant by that, is, it's a check from the company that I don't have to really work that hard for. I simply get the consultant started (actually my director does that) then help them if they ask for it. And I get a good check every month.
My sales directors checks average about $10,000 per month. With her biggest check to date being $13,500.

No, my director is not at the highest level on the career path.
The average annual sales director income is $52,000
The average National Sales Director income is $240,000
The average retired National Sales Director income is $210,000.
Keep in mind these are averages so there will be some higher and some lower.
