Hello,

I am trying to do a little survey for a disabled friend who would like to work from home.

She is looking at WS*L, Alp*ne and W*st. She already checked out their website.

Please can anybody give me an idea about those 3 companies in terms of how often the projects, employee vs independent contractor, benefits and pay (no details)?

Thanks so much for any feedback! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

Take care.

I can't tell you about these companies, but I can tell you that it is far better to be an employee vs an agent. The agent is not an employee therefore tax's are not taken out. You have to the tax's from your paycheck and either send it to the IRS monthly or yearly. This is very hard to do when you are needing every penny. I owe the IRS about 2 grand after being an independent agent. I'd go for the employee position.

Working Solutions, Alpine Access and West all hire applicants as employees.

I can tell you that alpine access charges a 45.00 fee to do a background and credit check. ALpine access credit check is done after you have been offered the position, and if you have more that four charge offs they will send you a letter, because of exceeding the credit amount they cannot offer the position. They will take it back from you. The average starting pay is like 7.50 an hour. I saw an employee post comments on www.jobvent.com about ALpine and said the job is very stressful, limited training, and is not worth 45.00 fee, 75.00 headset telephone to just get paid. 8.00 an hour..._popupControl();

Alpine Access starts at $9/hour and many companies charge for a background check. I don't work for them, but did a Mother's Day seasonal job once. They are very nice to work with but it was hectic, as it usually is with a busy season.

All customer service positions require the purchase of a headset/telephone unless you are calling thru computer and use a headphone that plugs into USB port. This is a normal business expense and is tax deductable.

Live Ops charges $50.

I like the flexibility of LO much more than AA.

At Working Solutions, we contract with individuals to provide services on our client contracts. Agents are independent contractors and are responsible for their own taxes, equipment, etc. We do not charge any fees to apply, test, work, etc.

Thank you for your interest!
