View Full Version : Setting 2009 goals

Hi everyone! I was thinking yesterday it's time to sit down and hammer out my goals for 2009. For the life of me I can't find the notes from our corporate trainer a few years ago that did a training on goal setting. I *think* it may have come from Lisa Jimenez (her Conquor Fear book changed my business!) but I thought I would share the "formula" in case it would help anyone else to do theirs. Here's what I remember-
***This is a more intesive goal setting plan.... it's to help move us from "wishing" our goals would happen to "creating" our goals into reality by specific action.
Step 1: Write down your goals. Both short term (6 months-1 year) & long term (3,5,10 years, etc.) This helps you see just where you want to head. Most of us don't head out on vaction without a plan/map. Our businesses need the same care and attention.
Step 2: Write down 3 reasons why you really want to achieve each goal. This helps you get very clear in your mind why you are going to work each day toward these goals.
Step 3: Write down 10 action steps you are committed to take (dig deep, get creative, come up with a minimun of at least 5!) for each goal that will help you reach for and achieve your set goal.
And make your goals something that is attainable for you in your current situation. Setting realistic stair-step goals that we can achievesets us up forreaching the bigger goals.
Step 4: Post your goals, why & steps in a prominent place were you can review them often.
I hope this helps someoneelse too. I need to sit down and start this today myself!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif Here's to a wonderful 2009 for all of us!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif

Thanks Amanda...it's always great to set goals and what a better time with the turn of a year! I like Step 2...write down three reasons why. I often set goals but don't give a deeper thought to them...just try to map out the actions next! THANKS for the suggestions!
HAPPY NEW YEAR and the BEST TO YOU ALL!
