I have three home parties and my own open house schedule for February and was wondering how much of a variety I should have on hand for these events. I am starting this business on ashoestring budget, but of course I want to have more than just my first candle of the month shipment. Can you all share with me what you take to your home parties? I was also wondering what types of things you would give the hostess. I also have someone that will doa catalog party for me. What should I put in the package for her to share with others.
My goal is to do 10 parties, line up 5 fundraisers, and recruit 3 COTM members in February. So I need 5 more parties, 3 more fundraisers, and 3 COTM members to achieve my goal. Any tips you all have would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Kimberley,
You are off to a wonderful start.
Let see, I would suggest having at least 1-2 cases of the best selling jar scents one hand if you can afford it. Those are probably going to be your best sellers. Then maybe a few votive to give away. If that is a pinch for you, maybe you can ask your sponsor the loan you some jars or votives to get you started.smileys/smiley2.gif
Hostess gift is something that I have not done but I would think a free jar or a discount would be nice if a certain amount of product was sold.
Catalog parties are nice. I would make several scent sample for the person that is hosting the party. I would also send a jar and votive for display. Giving people the chance to see what they actually look like.
I hope that helps you in some way! Good luck to you!
Many Blessings,
Natalie

Hi Kimberly!
I just sent out in the mail to you some great items to get you started with
your parties while you're waiting for your COTM to arrive and to help you
get started on a shoestring budget.
A package went out yesterday with:
-Hot Apple Pie votive
-Apricot Freesia votive
-Cinnamon Raisin Bun votive
I also included scent samples of 7 of our top selling scents for you, 15
brochures, which you can use at your parties as "catalogs" so your gals
can see our products and look at a list of scents to choose from. I also
printed off a sheet of labels for scent samples - Hot Apple Pie, Sweet
Orange and Chili Pepper, and Apricot Freesia. This way, you will be able
to use the votives I sent you as scent samples once you get more
inventory in stock.
I SUPPORT my new business partners!smileys/smiley2.gif
My experience has been that people will buy what they smell. You should
have plenty with the votives and the samples to show at your first party,
and your COTM should arrive by the end of the week.
After your party, when you have taken orders and collected your money,
let's talk and we'll go over placing your first order together and discuss
what items you might want to add to your inventory with some of your
profits.
In general, I would recommend 3 cases of votives in some of our top
selling scents that you can use for scent samples, "smell & sell" and also
to retail. I like to use SO&CP, French Vanilla, Hot Apple Pie, Green Tea,
Cinnamon Raisin Bun, and Apricot Freesia. Choose any of these or others
from the list of top 24 selling scents that I emailed you with your startup
kit.
I would also reinvest your profits in brochures, fundraiser forms, business
cards, and eventually, the scent sample bag.
I can't wait to hear how your first events go for you, and it will be exciting
to help you choose your new business materials with some of your
profits!
SHINE BRIGHTLY, my new Business Partner!
-You are going STRAIGHT TO THE TOP!

Oh my Kitt you told me that you were sending me some samples to get started but I didn't expect all of that. Thanks so much. The good thing is that my first few parties will be given my family members and most of the guests will probably be people that know me so they know I am just starting out. Send up a little prayer for me cause my daughters homeschool group wants me to drop off some fundraiser information with them on Thursday. She went to her group Friday and told her teacher that her mom just started a new business selling gourmet candles and that her mom already had 2 fundraisers scheduled. So when I picked her up Friday afternoon her teacher asked me what would be involved in doing a fundraiser.
Thanks for the suggestions Natalie. I am going to get some orders myself this week once I get my samples and I wanted to reinvest the money from that to get a little inventory.
I haven't been this excited in a long time!
