One of our trainers had a GREAT tip for approaching people. It's one of those "duh, why didn't *I* think of that" things, but at the same time, I've never heard anyone suggest this before:
She said instead of telling people something along the lines of "I'm a BeautiControl consultant" or "I sell BeautiControl" when you are talking about your business, that we should try saying something like, "Irun my own spa business." Then take it from there.
I thought, wow, just a simple change of wording could really have a big effect!
Anyone else ever thought about this approach? I'm definitely going to try it!smileys/smiley32.gif
Another suggestion she had was regarding the goody bag. She said she puts a small BeautiControl product in her goody bag and says, "One of the reasons I joined BeautiControl was because I love the products and this way, I'm able to get great discounts!" I thought that was pretty clever...it plants that recruiting seed for those who may not want to necessarily work their business, but lets them see they don't HAVE to; they could just do it for the discount. She said the first time she used that approach at a spa, she got three recruits in one night.
Gonna try that one too!smileys/smiley4.gif

Cool! Thanks for sharing the goody bag tip, Jennifer!
Funny about the BC comment...whenever I talk about BC I just usually refer to "my spa business." People are so interested in spas these days and I feel more like a business woman when I say that then saying BC rep/consultant. I actually told my dental hygienist (a man!) when he asked where I work/what I do, I told him I make greeting cards and I have a spa business. He was interested! smileys/smiley4.gif

That's funny! My dental hygienist asked me what I do the other day as well. (Must be time for everyone to get their teeth cleaned! Ha!) I told her that I am a spa consultant. She was intrigued and wanted to know more so I gave her little bits at a time, just enough to make her ask more questions. I do like the idea of telling them that I own my own spa business though. That's great!
