smileys/smiley36.gif after my first party I cleaned out my stash too! I had no idea about animal products and by-products. What really amazed me was the mineral oil thing. Sheesh! All those years of trying to rub lotions into my legs-- no wonderthey wouldn't rub in!

Hey Jesslynn! I think you will love arbonne! I had a party last night and I invited a massage therapist to give mini massages. Well, of course, I had mine before the party started to relax me! Anyways, this was her first introduction to arbonne, and she loved our products! Whatever lotion she used on me though, I can still feel it on my skin this morning! Gross! I haven't used non-arbonne lotion for a year now and I can really feel the difference! I feel sticky and dirty! I am meeting w/ her in a couple days to discuss our products and the business side!

Basically, it is an occlusive oil so it doesn't always properly allow moisture in or toxins out. It is in SO many products on the market place. Sometimes it's listed as mineral oil, sometimes petrol... You have to do some research. In addition, I learned in an infant massage class that it is a derivative of gasoline- hence petrol or petroleum. They told us in that class to be sure NOT to use it to do our infant massages. They said it can be very hard on the baby's liver (I think). Anyway, when I began researching this after being introduced to Arbonne I knew it was not good since I had heard it there as well. I personally think that's one of the biggest differences I've seen in my skin- no m.o. clogging my pores!

just to add a little more on the mineral oil thing.....
I was one who used baby oil every day in the shower (and I do mean every day for the last 20 years!) I always thought it helped my skin, and if it could be used on babies then surely it was okay for me...boy was I wrong!!! When I attended my first Arbonne presentation and they did the cracker test I was totally grossed out and went home and dumped just about everything I had! Anyway, mineral oil is crude oil refined 7 times. Everything that Jen explained above is accurate as well but here's how I kinda explain it in my classes now....can you imagine putting motor oil on your skin? Basically that's what you are doing, it's just that mineral oil has been refined a few more times than motor oil....kinda gross huh.

Not trying to be a downer here, because our products ARE AWESOME AND BENEFICIAL (see post above about me using "other" lotion last night), but the whole cracker thing is kinda far fetched. Try some of our products on crackers and it will not absorb either. You just can't compare skin and crackers.

I don't think we are suppose to even do the cracker things anymore too.

We are not. I think this is because it tends to be portrayed as "this is what mineral oil does to your skin" when really it's just an analogy of sorts. It's really meant to give the mental picture that it's an occlusive oil- not that it makes your skin hard as a rock. I've tried it with our products also and they do absorb but they take a long time.

on back of one hand put a few drops of arbonnes skin conditioning oil and rub in, then put a dab of rejuvenating cream on and rub in- goes right in...
on back of other hand put a few drops of baby oil (mineral oil) and rub in, then put a dab of rejuvenating cream on and rub in- it doesn't get rubbed in, just smeared around on top of baby oil.
this is a better one to do to show why using products with mineral oil isn't good for your skin...

Thanks that one is much better and shows it for real. I always take something from the house where the show is at.. (if the person doesn't have just Arbonne). Usually it has mineral oil and this example works great. You can see with your eyes how it doesn't go it..
