Hi, for those of you that do home parties - I was a guest ata Tupperware party this weekend and we played a fun, short game that had the crowd laughing and having fun. This is something that would work great for us too: Here is my candle modification to it:

Place 4 or 5 votives in different scents on the floor (different colors so they can rememberthe scents). Give each guest 3 small pieces of paper and have them write their name on each, fold twice and put it in a basket or hat. Then start drawing names - when they hear their name they can grab a votive from the floor or from someone that already grabbed one. Keep drawing all of the slips out of the hat so no one knows which one they will end up with or if they will get one. So at the end they are stealing votives from eachother and laughing and giggling. Itwasfun, easy and rewarding :o). At the end, If you are generous, you can give the people who didn't get one, a votive.

Just an easy idea and super fun (as a guest I had fun fighting over plactic cookie cutters and smidgets- can you imagine the prize of one of ourvotives??)smileys/smiley1.gif Edited by: lovethiscandle

OK, I tried this game at my home show today and it was a HUGE hit! Everyone fought over Sweet Orange Chili peper and the Applies & Peaches the most. There were 12 ladies and some teens playing - everyone got so giddy! We had the whole room rocking with laughter! What a way to show off the different scents and everyone was happy they got a prizesmileys/smiley1.gif.

Thanks! I have been in the direct sales and home party biz for years and I never had a turnout like that one before!Including the teens it was around 15 people. (Plus we hadjust got 6 inches of snowlast night and I was worried about turnout - lol)

It was wonderful, although we also had 5 or 6 toddlers from about 1-2 years old (Adorable, I might add) that I had to unfortunately talk over and walk carefully around - lol. So I didn't get into too much detail on anything as much as I wanted to because no one could hear me - lol. Thank goodness they could smell and that did my talking for me! Sales were great - I did a special of buy three get one half off for the jar candles and dozen votives that helped upsell. We are just up to around $400, 1 booking, andmore outside orders comingsmileys/smiley1.gif.

P.S. Thank goodness our candles are not very tasty and are non-toxic is all I can say smileys/smiley5.gif.

Sounds fun!

Does anyone do a "guess the scent" game as well?

Or, choose a scent that matches your personality (why does everyone pick sex on the beach?!? smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif

I've played that game with Christmas presents and also on a book swapping site I'm on called Paperbackswap.com (http://www.paperbackswap.com/index.php?n=7)with books- I've always heard it called a White Elephant swap. That's a really good idea! I wouldn't have thought about doing this with the candles - but I bet it would be a hit!
