View Full Version : Keeping It Simple

I have recently heard different consultants, directors, etc., talking about keeping your spas simple. I KNOW for a fact that I carry in way too much at my spas. I am a just- in -case type of person so I wag it all with me just in case I might need something....

I didn't really realize this might be jeopardizing my chances of recruiting. So I plan to down size at my next spas quite a bit!!

What I would like to ask of you is this:Some of you that don't mind sharing, how do youdo your spas- what all do you take, what does your spa outline look like- order of demoing products, etc.? I may need to refreshen my spa someand I hear so many success stories on here! If you will, please share what/how you do your spas.

Any advice or input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

I do my spa parties exactly like the DVD; with one exception. I still do the heated foot treatment. The products that fit in my middle compartment is as much product as I take.

It is hard to get into the mindset of keeping it simple. I would carry around enough foot tubs for everyone and lots of extra product.

I highly recommend the flip cards! They are an awesome tool to carry in your purse and show when talking with people interested in booking a party. Also, watch the DVD! It is another great tool to help you keep it simple.

It is liberating not to have to carry all of the extra things! We are watched by guests, hostesses and others. It is great for them to see how easy it is to do a spa party when they do not have to look like they are moving in!

Also, I have stopped taking inventory with me too. I make deliveries and it is a great way to get to know your new clients. That way too if I have to order something, their order comes complete.

Hope that helps!

Can you explain what you do for the heated foot treatment for us newbies?smileys/smiley9.gifThey don't show it in the video. My recruiter does foot soaks in tubs with the spa bath minterals but I'm contemplating whether I should do those or the heated foot treatment....Thanks!

Thank you for the quick response, Vicki! I know of some consultants who like to have the ladies do Herbal Serenity on one foot and Margarita on the other and then follow up with heated socks. I still choose to just do Margarita but I also follow up with the heated socks. Margarita seems to sell better here than Herbal Serenity does. But I might try the switch-up just to introduce a new product that maybe some haven't tried before.

I have also heard that some consultants have ready made sheets of the products they are using to pass out to the ladies. Beside each product is a little info about it. This way, when the ladies try it during the spa they can mark that product. It keeps them from having to say, "Now what was that we used on our hands...." I've heard it helps sales.I haven't tried it yet but plan to in the near future.

Have a great evening everyone!

Cody,

The heated foot treatment is not on the DVD.

I do this right after show of hands and the microderm abrasion demonstration. They wipe their feet with unscented baby wipes and use the Margarita foot scrub. Then the wipe that off with more of the baby wipes. Dry and apply the Margarita foot cream. Then I have them put on plastic footies and take heated socks from the microwave. They sit for 15- 20 minutes. As they are relaxing with the heated socks on, they apply the lip apeel and eye pads. Then it is relaxation time.

You can use the sugar scrub and H/S foot cream instead of the Margarita. Margarita is my absolute favorite! It was introduced the year I started and have been using it ever since!

I still bring my party folders with consultant agreement, monthly recruiting promotions and product guides. It would be so much easier to just bring the sheets. My folders are see thru and the front has the recruiting promotion on it. Maybe in the future I will change that too! LOL

I heat my foot socks by putting them between the heated neck wraps, I also put the herbal serenity lotion between them to warm it up some as well. So, far that has gotten a great response.

Good Luck,

Remember, each persons Spa is Unique in that you do what it comfortable and easy for you to do.

Well, I've only done one but here's what I did.

I let the guests choose between Show of Hands and the brown sugar scrub when they first arrived and did the hand thing w/the hostess.

I also let the guests choose whether or not they wanted to actually remove their makeup and use the products on their face or just try them out on the inside of their wrists/forearm. Some did one, some did the other.

I let them choose whether or not they wanted to do their own foot treatment or if they wanted me to do it for them. I also let them choose between the margarita foot scrub or the Save Your Sole scrub. It was about 50/50, and some ladies even did one product on each foot.

Leaving it up to the individual guests made it "simple" for me. But everyone really bragged on what a great time they had, so I must have done something right!smileys/smiley2.gif Again, it was my first one so I'm sure as I do more, I will make some tweaks here and there, but I did do well--$245 in retail sales, plus three tentative bookings!smileys/smiley32.gif

I only bring the heated neckwrap for the hostess. Tess do you bring more than one? I used to bring one for everyone, but now have scaled it back to just the hostess and she keeps it the night of her party.

That is a cool idea to warm the H/S foot cream! I have never tried that. Maybe I will tomorrow night at my spa party.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Jen,it sounds like you are having lots of fun! Congrats on the sales and don't wait too long to get those bookings!

I do the Simple Spa, for the most part, but I too still do the foot treatment. The order in which I demo the productsis a little different though and I am actually going to change up a little more tomorrow night at my spa. So here's what I am going to do ...

As guests arrive I will take them into the kitchen and give them some Lip Apeel. While that is drying I will demo the Microderm Abrasion on the handbefore the Show of Hands. Guests always tell me that they can still see the difference even if they do the Show of Hands and ER Hand Creme first. But it will be even more noticeable if the microderm is done first, then I'll do the Show of Hands. By this time their line peel should be dry and they can rub it off at the sink. And the hostess' floor stays clean!!! Then lip balm.

Next, we'll go into the living room and I'll have them passthe heated neckwrap around. As each guest tries the neckwrap I have them sayone thingthey loveabout the hostess and thenname their biggest stessor. This isusually a big boost for the hostessand always very sweet and moving. (I've actually had women decide to book just because they need aboost of encouragement!) Next, I'll give them the ER Hand Creme, then the HS Foot Creme, bags and socks. (I don't warm my socks anymore.Because your body heat escapes from your feet, when you puton the bags and socks it holds the natural heat in. The socks, unlike the neckwraps, don't stay warm more than a few minutes anyway.) Next are the eye pads, deep breathing excercise, touch each guest on knee before giving massage with head tingler, and then a visualation with $1000 bill. Once they've taken their eyepads off then we'll do the Herbal Hydrating Mist and Green Tea Masque.

Now I will show them my Goody Bag. I keep a $1000 bill in my bag and when I show it to them I ask them how they spent their $1000during relaxtion.

Next, I do the Name Game. I give each guest a piece of paper and tell them that I will give them a couple minutes to write down all the women they know who have stress in their lives, but they cannot list anyone present. I give a small ER Hand Creme to the one with the most names. When I'm ready to ask for booking and someone says "I don't know who I'd invite!", remind them that they've just made their guest list.

Next, I ask for a volunteer. It needs to be someone who knows that she has sun damage and doesn't take good care of her skin. Then I will give her a wet washcloth and some Gold Cleanser and ask her to remove her makeup. Then I will get out my black light and show the other guests the sun damage. I will explain the Maintenance Set and how it takes care of the skin that you can see. Then I'll have her apply the Platinum Regeneration and explain it's benefits. Then while shining the light on her skin I will have her apply the Cell Block C a.m., first to just one side of her face so that that everyone can see how it protects against the UV-B and UV-A rays.

Once we've finished the black light demo I will then do a 5 minute makeover on the same guest using the Spa Beauti Set that comes in the new consultant set.

Next I go into my closing, asking for sales, bookings, and recruits. I use a Spa Escape Item List that we go over at the end of the spa. I only demo what comes in the New Consultant Kit and this is what is on my Item List. The reason for this is that I am trying to build my team and I'm looking for recruits. If I show a lot of products that don't come in the kit, prospective recruits may not sign up simply because they won't get the products they want in the kit. I also do not carry product guides with me to my spas for the same reason. This was very hard for me at first. However, this was something that we were told at Celebration to stop doing. The result? I am selling more skin care, which is the bread & butter of our business and ensures repeat clients. When I deliver their products to them I will put a product guide in their bag.

If anyone is interested in my Closing the Spa Verbage or my Spa Escape Item List and would like to know exactly how I use it , let me know and I would be more than happy to email these to you. The first time I used these, which was just last week, I recruited! Recruiting has always been difficult for me (I've never recruited at anything more than $99) and I truly believe that these two things are what helped me!

Ok, I think that's it. Sorry this soooooo long! But maybe it will help someone. smileys/smiley1.gifEdited by: Spa Diva

Vicki,

I did take one neck wrap fo rthe hostess, but then I started telling ladies who booked Spas, they could invite up to 5 friends. This eliminates the person who says" I don't know many people" . By keeping it 6 and under at the party, i will bring a neck wrap for each and it makes it sound more "Exclusive".

So, far it is working really well. My Aunt had a spa party that she showed up for and there were 17 ladies there!!!!

I feel like with a low number I can pamper more and there is more Quality to the Spa. It's just my preference.

Just curious- do any of you ladies do the heated wash cloths over the Warming Trend?

I save this for last while the guests are listening to the Gift of Relaxation cd. I put a little into each person's hand, activate it with the Hydrating Mist, then have them apply it to their faces. I then tell them to lie back/down, or whatever and realx and follow the directions on the cd. Then I go to each one and drape a folded/heated wash cloth over their eyes- not the whole face- they can't breathe too well this way it seems. Then I walk around to each one and do the hand massage with the Sugar Body Butter. Thisis how I wind up my spa. Finally, I go into the recruiting, booking, and selling part.

Does anyone else do anything like this- I'd like to hear how some of you wind down your spa or what you do during the relaxation part.

Have a wonderful evening!!!

I have a question regarding the hand massage, do you do this portion during the relaxation, if so how much time do you spend on each person? And Beautigurl2 how do you close your spa regarding the recruiting, booking and selling?

Hi Amy I would love a copy of the verbage too. Thanks for all the information. Ladies all of this has been really helpful to me. So please don't be shy about sharing.

Okay, I don't know what the head message thing you all are talking about. I didn't get any heated foot socks either. Any suggestions in that area would be helpful too. Thanks to all of you.

Got a spa on Saturday and I am really exicted.

As far as the hand massage- the time you spend varies on how many ladies you have. My Relaxation cd is about 15 minutes long so if I only spa 5 ladies then I can afford to do a little more on each. But I have had as many as 16 ladies to spa and I had to work very fast! I massage both hands- actually I do the elbow down. Remember that stress loves to settle in joints so when you massage, start at a joint such as the elbow and "pull" the stress down and out through their hands. It feels wonderful!

When I close- I have my Goodie bag handy. It has all the reasons why I chose to be a BeautiControl Consultant. Make it as personal but as realistic as you can. I have pics of my family- I can spend more time with them, A cut up credit card- Get outta debt!!, a little red Mustang!!!!!- we all know what this is for!, a mini container of play doh- My work time is flexible- I work when I want to..., and a sucker- because I get to meet all kinds of "sweet" ladies as I spa. The Goody bag is a great conversation piece and it helps people to really understand better why you became a consultant. It is a great way to introduce the opportunity. I didn't use it when I first started but I keep it with my spa stuff now. I had trouble finding words to say and I got really nervous so I decided to give the Goody bag a try- it helps!

As far as booking- sometimes I will have individual gifts, usually BC products like from the minis, wrapped on display- whoever booked got to pick a gift, or I gave them what my incentives for booking a party were- most of the time they like the discounts you offer. This helps them to be more able to afford a product/s they want.

With the selling- this I have the least trouble with. I try to let the ladies know how great the products make my skin/body feel. I am a big fan of Microderm Abrasion! I go into my personal experience using it and I usually sell a set everytime. I think it is true that once they try the products they will sell themselves. It is a definite plus to be able to demo the product before you buy it-this is a great assest to BeautiControl. With every product I have used, I saw instant results and I tell those ladies that. When they see you are sold on the products they will be too.

The Sqwiggler is not a BeautiControl product. It is a spa tool used to massage the scalp- great for migraine sufferers. I use it and the omni ball at the start of my spas to break the ice- it gets the ladies in a relaxed state- they are used to help relieve stress and everyone loves this too.

I heat my socks in the microwave as well as my wash cloths, then I put them into zip lock baggies, and then I heat my neck wrapsand pack it all in a cooler- they stay nice and warm.

Hope this answered some of the questions. I really enjoy this board!!! I have learned so much from all you ladies and it is great that everyone is so free to share. That's what it's all about- women helping women help others...

God bless.

You're so welcome!

I wanted to let everyone know how my spa went tonight. This is the second time that I've used both of these documents. The first time I recruited, and this time my hostess is planning on signing up but needs to let her hubby know first. She was also very impressed with the black light. She is only 33 yrs old and had a LOT of sun damage. She said she never used to wear sunscreen because she wanted to be dark. She also uses a tanning bed regularly. So I told her that if she insists on continuing to tan that she should at least cover her face. And she said she's never going to tan again! Sales were also great, better than usual and she only had a few guests! No bookings yet but the hostess is working on it!

I think I mentioned before that I have never recruited outside the $99 promo. When this hostess signs up she will make my 3rd this month! Woo-hoo!!! I truly believe that I have finally found the right verbage to use and ways of doing my spa that really entice the women. I can't take any of the credit though. It's all due to other consultants whohave beenwilling to share what they've done to succeed. So for those of you who have requested these files I pray that they will prove as beneficial for you. And please let me know how they work for you.

Can ya'll tell I'm excited? It's been a long time since I've felt this good about my business!!! smileys/smiley4.gif

Ya'll have good night!

Blessings!
