I know about chacha but are there any customer service jobs that anyone knows about that involve chatting and not having to use a headset/phone?

Some people like Amazon Mechanical Turk. You have to be fast and search for good paying tasks. But they do pay by direct deposit and Amazon giftcards.

Do you know if any of those tasks can lead to bigger things? I've seen very few tasks that could add up to more than a few dollars a day if worked full time!

There is a forum of folks who do MTurk. They have tips and techniques for gaining traction with this work. I personally have never seen any Hits for more than $5.00. But other people have reported finding some that paid $50.00 and more.
I do think that some people are making money there. Here's the forum link.
