Hey, I'm a WAHM with Brainfuse, but we also are raising some chickens, and planning on planting some dwarf fruit trees and possibly raising dairy goats.

Is anyone else here doing any homesteading?

Ok, I have to ask - what is Brainfuse?

Ok, I can see how my first post could be taken the wrong way.

I work for Brainfuse, or at least I did. Their peak hours conflicted with my needs, but other than that I loved working for them. They do tutoring online in many different subjects. But as I have a baby, it just created more stress for me.

That sounds very cool. We have chickens, and we did plant the dwarf fruit orchard. We just started with 12 trees that we purchased from the Arbor Day Foundation. We also joined the local CSA, that Community Supported Agriculture. It's group of 3 local organic farms, and you pay for a share of the crops up front, and then each week you pick up your share from a local drop off spot. Our two hens are laying eggs, and in April we should have 4 more hens who will mature and begin to lay. We also have 8 roosters to butcher in April. (That's the problem with hatching eggs, you can't tell the boy eggs from the girl eggs.)

So, that's our plan for surviving the economy.... sustainability!

I was doing some light homesteading and had started a couple of local groups, one for homeschool and one for local foods. Then my husband lost his job, spiraled into a mid-life crisis and we separated. Now living with my mom in her shady, suburban yard with the kids (who started school) and a few potted plants.

Still have plans to do more homesteading down the road. Kind of bad timing, as far as I am concerned though. My mom thinks compost is "disgusting". :(

Oh, well!
