Hello everyone! I am looking for ideas/suggestions in marketing ideas. I teach health and safety classes, such as cpr, first aid, communicable disease, etc. I currently am starting to contact day cares who are required to have the classes. My classes also meet the requirements from the Department of Job and Family Services, which is great.
So any and all ideas are welcome :)

Melissa,

Have you tried contacting local YMCA's and even some large business offices might want you to train their employees.

Are you concentrating on one area? Or are you looking to branch out to other towns and cities as well?

Maybe you can contact the local government. If they don't need a seminar for their employees yet, they may be able to direct you to other people who do need it.

Perhaps you could use your local Craigslist to advertise on. Could be the perfect place to spread the word. Good luck!

I'm trying to start the same business. Last week I was asked if I could teach Babysitting classes and PedFACTS classes.
The local library wants me to teach babysitting and first aid / cpr to homeschoolers. They'll only pay for material costs, but it should be a good way to drum up some business.

The local chapter of the Red Cross asked me about PedFACTS. They don't have an equivalent program and are looking for someone they can refer people to.

I think what I would do is set aside one day and plan to holda class. Secure a place and prepare for it. Prepare a letter/announcement and hand deliver to all the daycares in your area. Let them know of your impending class and they will need to call and reserve a spot soon as they are filling fast. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

This will hopefully get you into the door of the places and a chance to make yourself known.

I'd also encourage you to check into any detention facilities. I worked in residential care with juveniles and my staff needed to be trained.

Good luck to you!

Thanks to all of your for your great ideas and suggestions. I have posted on Craig's list and have had a few classes just from that. I am also working on sending flyers to local daycares and childcare centers. I will check into the homeschool route. I actually asked a friend a few weeks ago for contact information since she is in a few homeschooling groups. I will follow up on this today...thanks for the reminder :)
Thanks again ladies...
