Ok, let me tell you what I need help with smileys/smiley1.gif In my present situation I really want/need some money, but really don't want to do home parties (not just don't want to but partly can't do them right now). So....
A) Tell me...wouldn't one LIKE to do a basket show? Where they can show people the actual books we sell?!
B) I want to find someone to do a basket show in a large company in my town, but how do I find someone?? Do some big companies allow "outsiders" to put up an ad somewhere in their building maybe?
Ideas??

Lisa, have you tried child care centers?
I know there is a company called Books Are Fun that sets up a display in child care centers and comes back in a week to collect the orders.
Would something likethat work for you?

Lisa,
From one uzzie to another....Ask for referrals! I've been in your situation before, and doing something like this temporarily can work. But it works best if you get a referral from someone to speak with the right person in a company.
Call your friends and family. Ask them what business they think would like to have an office show or basket show. Try to get referrals in each catagory...doctor's office, lawyer's office, call center, daycare center, church office, insurance company, realtor, etc.
If you get 4 or 5 going at the same time, you may be able to combine them, take advantage of the double hostess benefits to donate to a children's hospital, abused children's home, or charity. If you promote it as a city-wide basket-bookfair, you can use those benefits instead.
Make them short & fast...no longer than 2 weeks...preferably one week. And try to arrange them near the company's payday.
Good luck!

Hi Lisa:
I have seen Usborne Books at craft fairs and they are some of the busiest tables there. This might be a good way to get your name out and not have to be out lots of nights, just an occasional Saturday.
You can also try to get some fundraisers going.
Best of luck with your business.

Advertise to those you don't know community boards whatever it takes. Many bookstores, coffee shops and libraries have community boards. Look for places where book lovers hang out and that is your place to advertise.

We do what's called "party in a bag" where you give a hostess items to take with her. You would find hostesses just like you would for a party--friends, referalls, adquaintances, neighbors, meet them at fairs and events, previous customers, etc.
Best of luck!

Would you be interested/able to do fundraisers?
Cheer squads, school bands, and other clubs are always looking for a way to
generate funds to buy uniforms, equipment etc... Donate 50% of your profit
to the cause, and see how that goes...
Hope you find a way to make it work for you...
