For those of you who do vendor shows (home & garden expo...etc) where have you gotten you display shelves. Is there a company that I could order from or did someone you know make them for you??????

Just looking for the fastest and easiest way instead of having my hubby have to take the time to do it for me.

Hi Kim!

Do you have some shows lined up? It is SO much FUN to
watch the reaction people have to our candle scents- they get
really excited and then soon THEIR excitement draws a crowd
to your booth!

I don't have a recommendation for display shelves, BUT, I do
have a suggestion. I did 4 craft & gift shows over the holidays-
one that gets over 100,000 patrons in one weekend. My
observation was that booths that are cluttered or packed with
items can be overwhelming.

I think it is easiest and just as effective to get one long table,
and set up a row of scents that you are offering for cash & carry.
I would choose 6-8 scents total.. Line them up, and have the
tops "loose" and cocked to the side so people know they can
easily take them off to smell. Then line up 2-3 of the same
scent behind the sample scent so you always have one
available to hand off immiediately.Use 2/3 of the table for
candles, and 1/3 for literature and your print out version of the
drawing registration.

This creates a very orderly, "tidy" display that doesn't
overwhelm people. Also, they will be more likely to purchase
on the spot if they see just 2 jars left of the scent they like rather
than a whole row of them. You can store the extra jars
underneath the table where no one can see them and it is very
easy to replace them as they sell.

GOOD LUCK and have a GREAT time!

Hi, Kim! At my craft fairs this fall I had about 15 different scents (a few in each catagory - floral, seasonal, fruity, spicey etc...)and a few boxes of votives. I didn't have time to make shelves either so I just took the empty jar cases and put them on the back of the table so it was like a step up and then I put a few votive boxes on top of those to create another step. (then covered them with a table cloth)

Then I had the votives stacked in pyramids in front of the jars. I put 5 or 6 votives wrapped up in tool (sp?) as decor and made up votive flowers (which would be great for valentines and mother's day!) and had them in a vase with greenery and laid the others accross the table.I had a few gift baskets, bella bars and bella buns as well.

Iwrapped some tool as a scarf around the table too give ita polished look. Itlooked very pretty when done.Plus it is cheap smileys/smiley2.gif

At one fair they let me burn one candle, but at the others it outside or was against the rules - be sure to ask permission. I also had one candle with soot and one of our candles burned down to compare (I removed the labels to honor the other company's privacy)

I left most of thelids on, but told everyone they could open them. - It does draw a crowd so it is fun. I passed out business cards stapled to scent samples.

I like the look of the shelves that are in the back office photos, I found some folding wooden shelves at Targetand Shopko that look similar. They fold up so theywould be easy to pack up. I decided not toinvest in them at the time.

Each Fair I did looked better and better. Plus it takes very little time to set up! Give me a call and I can fill in the details better. smileys/smiley1.gifEdited by: lovethiscandle

Here's a good place. They are expensive, but you can get an idea of the types of shelves to do. Maybe hubby can make one. ??

Here is something inexpensive that I found at good ole Walmart. In the hardware area, I found a white, plastic shelf that has three levels, I put one on either end of my table (it is tall, comes up to the level of the table)to put the jars on. I think it was like 7ish. I just wanted to suggest something that would be easy to take apart and transport and also would not cost much, starting out. LOL Lesly

I found instructions on how to build the fence look shelves. If you or your SO is handy - it looks really great! I think I am going to see if DH will do this for me. Email me if you want the link.
