Ok, I will be the first to admit I am decorating impared! So, selling for a candle/accessory company can be a challenge. (Of course I was with Longaberger and that also was challenging, but I did start to get the hang of things after a while). Does anyone have any great resources (specifically online) for great decorating pictures? Usually if I can see things, I can change them to work with similar products that we offer, but I just don't even know where to start looking. I can't afford magazine subscriptions and to be honest, I HATE the advertising in them. Some are mostly ads and no content smileys/smiley11.gif. So, if you have a great online site, could you please help me out? Thanks!

How about catalogs that are online? Maybe try Home and Graden online?
Pottery Barn? Pier 1 Imports? Nordstroms? Macys?

Just thinking out loud here...

Lisa,

I feel the same way! I started looking into which magazines could my decorating-impairedness smileys/smiley36.gif. But you know what I did. I got into my products. Now, I've got LOTS of AHA products in my house. Some I use myself, a ton more downstairs for shows that I've either purchased at great discounts or earned for free. I'd give myself a chunk of time to just spend with my "stuff". I found after just a short amount of time that this creativity just started coming out of me that I never knew existed. It actually became quite the creative outlet for me. It's helped me learn how to group things, great for cross-selling, and also just made me feel more confident.

But another way to see great ideas in magazines would be to head to the library. That way you can browse through whatever you like without having to spend a dime, and if you see something you just love, you could make a quick copy of it.

Good luck and have fun!

Well, I have come up with one thing today that I'd like to show everyone and get opinions on, but is there anyway to post a picture on here?

Southern Living at home's catalogs are always awesome and have great decorating ideas. Have you considered looking at catalogs from other direct selling companies instead of magazines?

Go to HGTV.com. You'll find tons of ideas there. It's the Home and Garden television website.

Thanks Ohio, I just checked that site, but didn't get too far into it. I'll go back and do some more digging later!

I'm with Southern Living at Home and our catalogs are filled with ideas! We're fortunate that our sister company (Southern Living Magazine) is heavily involved with decorating, design, and home building. Our catalog reflects a lot of their ideas.

I could send you a couple of our past catalogs and the current one for ideas! I actually do an "Idea House" for a showcase of Homes in our area and I take most of the idea "Rooms" right out of the catalog! I'm getting ready to do one in a couple of months and I'm taking so many ideas out of this new catalog! I love the Blue Slate walls with White accents everywhere! So fresh and crisp looking!

Email me at Susanscarb@aol.com and I'll send you one if you want to see it.
