I've been a cotm member for a long time now and just love getting my candles each month. I've never tried to focus on making money with this business. But I've been doing a lot of thinking and reading posts here and I think I should at least try.
Since I am on a budget of $0.00 right now (I'm not kidding, at least not until tax refund time!), I'm thinking of trying to focus on fundraising.
Can anyone help with ideas for fundraising? What do you do that has been successful?
Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa, if you check your back office there is a complete fundraising packetthat you can print and get started! Include the infoalong with your biz card and brochure and a few scent samples. Since you havent been selling you should have a couple extra votives lying around right? lol smileys/smiley36.gif
Then put it all in a pocket folder. I leave 1-2 in my car always and when you are out and see kids washing cars, bake sales at the grocery store, etc. i leave a packet with the adults in charge. Obviously these kids need to raise money!!
You can also mail or cheaper would be to hand deliver some packets to local areas like gymnastic or dance studios, or any place where you know people need money.
Start there. The more you get the packet out there, the more chances you will have!! smileys/smiley20.gif
HTH and good luck!!! smileys/smiley2.gifEdited by: iluvsoycandles

Hey Melissa!
Start by downloading and printing off the fundraising guide in the backoffice.
Go through your list of contacts and the phone book for who you might call. Keep in mind - sports, gymnastics, cheerleading groups, dance studios, day cares, schools, and the list goes on.
Call your friends and let them know what you are doing and ask them "Who do you know who might need a great fundraiser? Who do youknow who has kids in sports, etc?"
Sometimes when you narrow their thought process down, it's easier for them to come up with someone and it expands from there.
Do you have a few unburned jars around? If so, use those to "smell and sell" with when you visit these organizations.
Watch your local newspaper for booster meetings and show up with a packet of information, available in the fundraiser guide I mentioned.
When I call groups, I say - "Hi, it's Jackie Ulmer calling from Mia Bella Gourmet Candles. I am wondering when you might have 5 minutes for me to stop by, drop off some information and a free sample?"
The "free sample" gets you in the door. From there, I carry in a basket of 4 scents, and a votive in a holder to give to them, along with the paperwork.
Works like a charm!
Good luck and hope that helps!

Thanks for the information. I will go to the back office and look around.
You all wouldn't believe how many candles I go through just burning them in my home. It is truly constant. But hey, I guess you all would know about that.
Thanks again for the information.
