How many parties do you have scheduled for October? I have four scheduled for the first half of Oct, and have 3 openings for the 2nd half. Time to get on the PHONE!smileys/smiley36.gif

I am having trouble posting a response. This is my 3rd attempt:

I have 2 parties in October. One make & take for a former party guest and a regular (new) format.

I
am having trouble getting interest because they do not know what UB
is. I think they need a visual and then they will be hooked. So I
have a vendor expo in October and 3 in November in various areas
surrounding where I am at.

I have also scheduled dates for make & takes at my home; but have had no interest so far.

Trudi,

That is so odd because I'm having just the opposite response. Because UB is new and most people haven't ever been to a party, the hostesses are even more excited about it. People are so tired of Pampered Chef and Scentsy, because it's same old, same old. But UB is something new and exciting and my hostesses report that they have a lot more attending because it's new.

I give out a lot of the little sampler vials that you can clip to your business cards. I use a generic fragrance that most people like (like Daydream or the Apple Pie) and tell the hostesses that their guests can purchase kits to make perfumes and home scents. They get sooo excited about it. Maybe you could try that?

As to October, I have two parties scheduled so far. I'm going light this month because I have some personal things I'm focusing on. I want to schedule only one or two nore. That's the greatness of owning your own business--if I need some extra time off, I can create it myself. smileys/smiley2.gif

Oh, Trudi. One other thing. I've had some trouble with hostesses who've been to the Make & Takes not wanting to try the new party format. So I've offered them an extra incentive, like one free product instead of the 1/2 off item, or a bottle of the Scent of the Month or something to convince them they want to do the new format. When they do it, they like it. It's much easier for them and they usually earn more hostess credit.

Also, I only do one Make & Take at my house each month. But then I have to act like the hostess and make the calls, etc. as any good hostess would. I usually get between 5 and 10 guests each month. I think it all depends on your approach. If you stick to your guns and say the only Make & Takes are these, then I think your hostesses will come around.

Thanks Karlene. I am going to try the scent in the little clip vials. I actually have some on their way from Utah right now.

I really only want to do make & take out of my home or on special event request to hostesses who have already had the other party format. With the party on Oct 4th, make & take was the way to hook her. Each year her family gets together and makes a craft.

I have 3 parties book for Oct. so far, one call me and let's set the date and a date to do that call. Oct. if my month that I don't do very many parties because I am busy with marchng band competitions. But- competitions mean lots of moms hanging around waiting for children, so I do a lot of talking- and handing out of business cards and sample vials. I also carry my open date card with me so someone can book a party if they want. Hostess packets come to competitions with me as well.
