Happy Friday!

At this time of year, I look for local holiday boutiques to showcase my products and get new customers and bookings. To encourage attendees to fill out my information slips, I have a drawing where I give away a product. I find that people are more willing to fill out these slips if they have a chance to win something rather than if it's just for me to call them.

My question is about the prize item. I've always had an actual product that they can see, touch, sample, etc. However, I do lose the sale of the item, since it's a prize. Now, I don't mind losing the sale of a $20-$25 item, since I'm getting leads that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise, those are worth a lot more than the product! A friend of mine does a gift certificate instead. She says that way, if they don't redeem it, she's not out the product. Also, she says they tend to buy more when they call to redeem the certificate. Has anyone tried this? Did you find you have more people filling out the information slips (more leads for you) for an actual product vs. a gift certificate? The drawing is just a lead-generator for me, so obviously I'd like to use the method that generates the most leads with the least financial outlay. I have a big boutique coming up next month, it's not the event that I want to experiment with!

If you aren't sure maybe you could offer a piece of product or a gift certificate of equal value. Then on their slip have them note which they would choose. It will help you to track their opinion.

That's a great idea! That way they can still choose, either the product I'm giving away or order from the catalog. Thanks for the help, ladies!

If I am doing a give away at my table I use actual product - I know I will get a ton of leads but if I have to give a door prize/raffle to the event, I would give a gift certificate for the reasons mentioned above plus I may not see who won etc. and if they contact me to redeem it could be more of a sale or booking...

I had a booth today and chose an 8 oz Pumpkin Pie Bella jar as my door prize thatI gotfree from submitting a personalparty. Choose something popular from your line and you will get a ton of leads. People love to get something for free and most times will book a party or place an order upon receiving their prize.
My daughter had fun at the Sensaria table today! The consultant gave away samples with her business card. Not sure what she had for her drawing though; dd was busy placing her order. She loved the lotions. By the way, she is 7!

I'm so glad your daughter enjoyed Sensaria! People always sample the bottles on my table, and I also give out samples with my business card attached.
