Hello Everyone,
With a new year comes new goals and aspirations. I am still
working on my concrete written goals but one thing that is really
important to me is to aspire to improve my leadership skills and
qualities. So I would like to put the question out there for all
of you.
What do you think makes a good leader?
What are the skills you think they need?
What qualities make them more effective?
Any insight would be appreciated. One of the things I have
learned over the years is that to be successful at anything you have to
continually grow as a person, self development is key. I lost
site of that in 2005 and would like to refocus to improve my ability to
support and lead my team!

Wow, very thoughtful questons. I could write a book on each, but I'll try
to keep this succinct.
What do you think makes a good leader?
A: Being the type of person who inspires others to WANT to do what's in
THEIR best interest. In two words, creating inspiration and
encouragement within your consultants that will tell them that they CAN
do this!!!
What are the skills you think they need?
A: Consistency would be at, or near the top of my list. Being a
spectacular leader or a month just doesn't cut it. Leading by example.
Leading with courage and conviction. You MUST know, and be able to
express well the confidence you have in your self, your company, your
poducts, but most of all in YOUR CONSULTANTS' ABILITY TO SUCCEED!!
What qualities make them more effective?
A: Being the person that people LOVE to be around, thus your attention
to personal development will bode well for future growth in this area. To
me, it's all about being a better person, staying focused and positive.
That's all I have for you right now, except for a few things that have
helped (and TRUST me, I'm still very much a work in progress!) me in
these areas.

Great Questions...I have never thought of myself as a leader and when I started building a team I knew I had to work very hard at developing those skills neccessary to be effective.
What do you think makes a good leader?
Truly Loving and Caring for Others.
What are the skills you think they need?
Humlity, Be a Good Listener, Empathy (not sympathy), Believing and Expecting the Best Out of Others, Seeking Personal/Spirtiual Growth Daily
What qualities make them more effective?
Living a Life of Example. In order to Influence Others you must be worthy of their Respect in all areas of your life. Transparency and Humilty are the way to show Others that we are not perfect, but we are trying.
Thank you for starting this thead. We all need to reflect every now and then.
