Hey there,

Does anyone do parties? I have been looking at Party Hosting from the back office because my mom asked if she could have a party. smileys/smiley32.gif

I didnt want to do parties as I already do them for another company, however, if this gets my name out for the time being than maybe it is ok. Also I dont want to take debt/credit cards. I think that is a pain I dont want to get into.

How do you all keep a log of what you sell retail? You must have to keep that for your taxes correct?

Thanks

I keep my sales information on an excel spreadsheet by month. I duplicate my order (and the wholesale prices and shipping) - It automatically calculates the sales tax (from the sales price) and automatically calculates the profit margin. The colums calculate the totals for the month as well.

I also incorporate the customers name to be able to track what they've purchased and when. I have a basic template available on Excel - if anyone wants it, just send me a PM and I will get it out to you after I get home from work this afternoon. I will need to know your sales tax % and whether you remit your own or not. I can customize the sheet for you.

I use the 3-part carbonless sales order books that you can get from any office supply store really cheap. I have one for my retail person to person orders and when I do parties I just keep one to tear them out of - usually they stay together, if they don't stay together I just staple them. Then collect all of them and place in a home party envelope that has all the hostess information in their as well. Once copy as a receipt to the customer, one to give to the hostess to fill the orders with and one for me. smileys/smiley1.gif

Getting ready for taxes was pretty simple then this year. I also like the fact that we have all our invoices in the back office smileys/smiley32.gif. I have a mileage book in the truck - which sometimes I forget to use.Edited by: lovethiscandle

Hi Sandy, can you send me a copy of what you have. our sales tax is 5 percent. I also like the idea of the receipt book, I was looking into that but didnt know how many people actually use those.

I also have a 3 part book that I use for craft shows or parties etc.

At parties, later I would suggest taking cc, only because most people will buy more if they can put it on cc. Just something to think about.... www.propay.com (http://www.propay.com) allows you to call in the cc number so you can do it right on the spot. Its something similar to paypal..but I think they have a yrly fee.

lol - I know my son (almost 6) gets SUPER mad at me if I make any without him. smileys/smiley36.gif Sometimes I catch him grabbing votives and getting stuff started.

One day I bet I will catch him with all my votives grated on the kitchen table smileys/smiley5.gif
