New people coming to the insurance industry especially on the Life/Health side have a choice to go with a marketing organization or directly with carriers. If a new person decides to go with a carrier directly they can have the ability to earn higher commissions. Also with some you can bring in new people, but the training and compensation will be basically your responsibility.Something else to look out for isdepending on the contract to keep a commission level there may be production rerquirements. That may not be an easy task if new or just wanting to be part-time. If the goal is part-time income why would anyone wnat to be up against production quota's??
Some people only look at the initial commissions. It might be great to earn 90, 100, or whatever percentage on a sale, but when done that way your basically a salesperson and if there's no sales you earn nothing. Now what if you look atit another way. With a marketing organization depending on the contract, you will start out at a lower contract level, because in most instances you will need some hand holding. As you build a team you can have the ability to over ride your team members depending on the contract. That's the building of the business side.

No matter the company or organization watch out for the kool-aid factor. There are some that will serve up the kool-aid cold and sweet. Look beyond the hype and look at your individual contract. Go for ownership of your clients and downline if you build one. Try to stay away from a noncompete within your contract, and if you have one find out if it's inforceable within your individual state. Those are just a few things to look out for. At the moment there are not enough agents in the industry. People can start out on a part-time basis if they so choose, but you must be serious. It's business and the more you learn, the more you can potentially make.
