View Full Version : Becoming a consultant

I need some advice.....I am currently a wholesale consultant and am thinking about going to the next step. However, every where I turn there is an Arbonne consultant. I guess what I am asking, at what point it the market saturated? For those of you who have experienced success...how easy was it for you to build your team? What is a good way to start your business.... in otherwords what should I invest in to start off and how much/little can I invest? Am I making any sense????
I would love to catch the wave, but have been told the best way to succeed is to invest at least 1000, but don't want to invest that much ('cause that's a lot of money for my family) and then have it be close to impossible to build my team. Any suggestions would be most appreciated! Thanks!

Arbonne (& network marketing in general) is NOT saturated, BY FAR!!

I agree, Arbonne is rapidly becoming "a household name", but I still come across people who have NEVER heard of Arbonne!

In fact, you'll find Oklahoma is know for promoting out RVPs & NVPs EVERY MONTH. One would think EVERYONE in Oklahoma is using Arbonne. But, I just had someone contact me, via my website, to order products.....from Oklahoma!!

I suggest you get with the person that sponsored you (or their upline Area Mgr or RVP) to plug into a system and options that work best for YOUR situation (not everyone has $$ to invest upfront).

They will be excited to know you want to "ride the Arbonne wave," able to share with you how to can take it to the next level and help work with you to achieve what you want!

Good luck to you!

And you dont have to have a huge upfront investment to be successful.
Some people just purchase the sample packs for people to use and sell
that way. It's up to you and your budget.

My budget is also limited at the time, so I am going with samples of the RE9 set to start. I am in Oklahoma where we are supposed to be "saturated", and let me tell ya, half the people I have talked to dont even know what Arbonne is, much less have a consultant, LOL! So dont worry about saturation. smileys/smiley2.gifEdited by: funnygirl

Coming up with the money up front is scary. You should check with your sponsor (if she's not working the business then ask her who her DM/AM/RVP is) and see if they have an extra RE9 test drive set they would be willing to let you borrow for awhile to get it circulating around and the $ you make from that you can start growing your business.

Your area is not saturated yet! We are from the same state and I still run into people who haven't even heard of Arbonne! Hope that helps!

I have found kind of the same thing. A lot of people I talk to already have a consultant, and for a very little while, that worried me. But then I realized that if I didn't do this out of fear for market saturation, I would miss the opportunity to share Arbonne with someone who would benefit greatly from the products and/or business opportunity. I don't want to miss that opportunity. So here I go! And you can make the same decision, too. But it's important to remember your whyat the times when you hear things like "oh, i just went to a class" or "i already use it" or "i heard that stuff is really expensive". A strong why will get you through that, and on to greater things.

Have you seen the demographic maps? THERE IS SOOOO MUCH ROOM TO GROW!

I understand what you are saying though, but thinkof it this way- there are STILL people signing on to do Mary Kay and Avon and they are still making it to the top.

I am invovled in a women's networking group. Do you know that only 2 people out of 45 that were at the meeting had ever even heard of Arbonne? That just goes to show that it is NOT saturated!

You need to make the decision as to whether or not you are willing to step out of your comfort zone and make new contacts. Sometimes that is all it takes.

If you were joining Arbonne 5 years down the road then maybe I would think otherwise, but this is the right time to get involved.

I dont think the origianal poster is from Oklahoma (are they?). I was just stating that I am from Oklahoma, and that out of probably 10 people that I have spoken to about Arbonne, only 2 had heard about them. So, while your area may have alot of consultants, mine doesnt, lol! Also, about the pricing, I look at it like this. When Iused to go toWal-Mart to buy makeup, I bought Max Factor. If someone says its too expensive, I tell them how they can sign up and buy everything wholesale, and then its about the same price as Wal-Mart. So basically your getting a superior product for the same price as Discount Stores. Also, I have noticed that the prices on the makeup are simular to MK prices. BTW, thats why I signed up with Arbonne in the first place, to save money on products for myself. I just signed up a couple of weeks ago, and my director sent my a sample of the RE9. I tried it, loved it. Passed a sample on to my grandma, she didnt evenask how much it cost, she wanted the RE9 eye creme and lift. I think once people try the product, the issue of cost kinda isnt so much of an issue anymore. Once you really want something, you just figure it out, lol! I dont know how some move up and some dont. My guess would be attitude, cirumstances, following the plan. Like I said, Im new and honestly I havent signed anyone up yet. I have only talked to my friends and family, and like I said, we are all Okies and all but my best friend and mother in law said "Whats Arbonne?" LOL!

IF Oklahoma is so saturated as noted above, why am I STILL getting EOA's of new RVPs and NVPs that just started not too long ago?

Something to think about.

There are millions of people in the United States. Until every single one of them becomes an Arbonne Consultant, then we are no where near saturation.

Huskr, you’ve gotten some great advice in this thread. I am going to chime in. I believe it’s all what you decide to make it. You can’t let the doubt & the fear control you. If you do that then you are done before you’ve even started. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I’m sure you can guess from my sig that I am from Oklahoma. Not only am I from Oklahoma but I am in an area that promotes a large number of people every month. Also an hour & a half away from me is what some call the capital of Arbonne b/c there are so many success stories from there!

I still do not believe it is saturated. Yes. I people who are already with someone etc but I also meet people who haven’t. And remember with our Results approach you don’t need to teach the whole country about it, you just need to teach a handful. Bottom line, I watch people promote to every level of this company every month. I’m not talking about one or two people…I’m talking several. It will continue to happen for quite awhile b/c there are so many people who still haven’t heard of us. Heck, there are states that don’t even have VPs!

I can’t tell you how much to invest, that is your choice. All we can do is give you the various options (packages) tell you the benefits of each & then you have to decide. It should be enough that you are going to be serious & take the business seriously but not enough to keep you up at night.

You have to think about how fast you want to go. If you aren’t going to buy much then that just means you’ll have to work that much harder to make it to the first level. Or maybe it means you go slower & that’s ok. It doesn’t matter how long it takes, it’s still pretty sweet whether it takes you 2 months or 2 years.

Also, remember you set the tone for your team. The majority of the time they will do what you do. So if you start out with a lot of product then more than likely so will they, same is true for if you don’t. This business is all about duplication & that starts immediately.
Like others have said though, you can start this business & be successful without buying $1000 retail products if you have to. You just have to look at what all it effects in the long run & make your decision on what is best for YOU & your family. Then really work your business & follow the system you choose...activty, activity, activity.

Thank you all so much for the awesome advice and encouragement. To all of you Okiessmileys/smiley17.gif, as you can probably guess by Hskr Girl, I am from NE but my sponsor and upline is from the Edmund area. Also last night I decided to take the plunge. YAY! I am ordering 2 Re9s and with some of the special offers am hoping to piece together a third. I know I will have to work a little harder than if I could have invested more, but, hey, this is better than nothing.smileys/smiley1.gif I am really excited and have set my goals high and am going to do my best to achieve them. I am so happy to have found this website....you all are great!

On the RE9 pricing, I always say that if the setwere to last6 months, that's only $29 per month at wholesale & you can't buy the cheap stuff for that price. We're talking a complete set for $29 a month...it's an incredible price!! I have to be honest, I have only had one person who tried the RE9 set turn it down.

That sounds like a great plan to me. Ive heard of terrific results useing the RE9 set. Good luck to you, and keep us posted on how things go smileys/smiley2.gif

Kiana's Mom.....That's a great way to break down the price. I have had my Re9 for about 6 months and can possible stretch it to 7 or more. Awesome advice, because I do know quite a few people who are turned off at the price in the beginning. I had a friend who complained about all the steps.....but have sold her 3 of the products so far and will probably get her try more.

Soonergirl...and anyone else who has suggestions.....once you have exhausted your family and friends.....who do you approach? People while shopping, etc.? And, how do you approach them?

I completely agree that you set the tone for your team. I am planning on staying positive and upbeat and hope it is contagious!!! I hope to be driving to OK to see my upline and anyone else who want to join in in a year in my new Mercedes!!!!! smileys/smiley4.gif

people while shopping, yes. joining networking groups, going to events in the area. the main thing is you need to be willing to step out of your warm market and be ready to hear the word "no"

honestly, the sooner you get away from your warm market, the easier it will be!

I did a craft fair this past weekend, and though I didn't sell any products, I met a possible new BB! If you think about it, these are great places to meet possible bbs. Not that I go to recruit b/c that is against policy. But I had SEVERAL consultants from other businesses come to me and started asking questions. Some were scoping out the competition, but the one I met sells jewelry and wants to do both. So, she is sampling the basics set right now, and I met another consultant who is going to sample the RE9.

smileys/smiley9.gifAnyone you come into contact with that has skin is a prospect. Chances are they are washing their faces already, they might as well try your line in the comfort of their own home.

Have you signed up for the newsletter at Nexera (www.nexera.com (http://www.nexera.com))? Michael Clouse is awesome & when you sign up for the newsletter, he will send you a free copy of Seven Prospecting Secrets. I love the tip aboutattendingevents/expos and approaching the folks who are exhibiting there. (I think it would work just as well with other attendees.) Check it out!

If actually exhibiting at one of these events, I think the focus is more about getting contact info & following up later than it is about sales. Since we are not yet a household name, folks may shy away from a purchase but be more open to a follow up later when it can be more personalized. One of the other consultants I know exhibited at an event and wnded up with over 50 names & contact info. She'll be busy for a bit doing follow ups and scheduling drop offs, pick ups, etc.

My AM met me at the mall the other day & while she was waiting for me (in the play area) she started chatting with the girl next to her & ended up scheduling a drop off tomorrow. I was able to get a sample (she wasn't willing to try a full set & be responsible to return it)to a gal at the jewelry store while we were were there. I also talked with the guy at the Watch Station that replaced my battery & he is looking for something to help with some old marks & scarring as well as body lotion. Hewasn't interested in the Men's line. I have a follow up with him on Friday.

There are people with skin everywhere you look. It is just a matter of stepping out of your comfort zone & talking to people. We honestly do have an awesome gift to offer, whether it be healthier skin & health or a biz opp that will allow them to own their lives.

Sorry for the booksmileys/smiley9.gif, I can't seem to stop myself from sharing here & everywhere I go these days. It is so nice to be refocused!!smileys/smiley32.gif
