My friend's daughter recently sold an item on Craigslist using paypal. The buyer (from Nigeria) told her he would pay her $80 shipping, so the total he deposited should have been $180.00 Instead, he deposited US$850. into her paypal account. Is there any reason to be nervous about this?

My advice would be to only take what she's owed. They should also contact Craigslist or a family attorney to check w/ them too.

Tell her NOT to spend the money and NOT to deliver the product. Have her send all emails to paypal etc..

Don't touch the money. Don't spend it, don't send it back. Contact paypal and forward the emails to them. Ah, the famous Nigerian scammers. They're up to no good.
