Hey y'all!! I am so excited I could pee myself!! We got to meet our favorite driver in the whole wide world yesterday!!! Ryan Newman, driver of the #12 Alltel Dodge in the Nextel Cup series. He's AWESOME AND WE LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!! We got to have a 30 second conversation with him,lol. He signed photographs for us and my hubby's hat and we took a pic with him and I got about 10 other pics of him as well. It ROCKED!!! We also gave him 2 Disciple's Cross's that we made for him and his wife and he seem genuinely grateful for them. I pray he actually kept them and took the time to read the cards that come with the crosses because the message on them is so moving and awesome. I hope they touched hisheart like they touch ours. I'm hoping God stepped in on that one because I know he's famous and probably gets gifts all the time and just puts them away in a box somewhere. These are so small I worried about him laying them on the autograph counter and forgetting about them. So, I pray God had his hand on them and they make their way into Ryan and Krissie's hands now or later, doesn't matter as long as they get them. Anyway, I'm gonna try and post the pic of us with him here. He's such a cutie patootie!!

Thanks y'all! I'm STILL high, LOL. Hubby is too, he had to take all the pics we printed out to work today to show all the guys!! I would love to be able to afford to go to some races this year and get pit passes. This is the first thing me and Rodney have both REALLY been into and it provides us with such great family time. There's nothing like being at a live race. Our dream is to go to the Bristol night race and also one day after we retire to hit every single race of the season! I'd love to have a Nascar ministry too! We'll see where the Lord leads! God Bless y'all!

Well Shelley, how in the world does one get those tickets? LOL We've looked into buying them but we were told there is a waiting list for the waiting list,lol. We had a chance to purchase tickets to the April race in Martinsville but we would have to go with my mom and step dad and she'll be doing taxes all that weekend so that's out. It would take us a day and a half to get there. I was bummed, they had a great price for them. It was 4 tickets to the truck race on saturday and4 tickets to the Nextel Cup race in turns one and two looking right down the front of pit road and the seats were high enough up you could see turns 3 and 4 clearly at the other end. The price was $425 for all 8 tickets!


If you have an "in" on getting Bristol tickets at the night race I'd love some help. We have talked about that for 3 years now. It would be so awesome!!

My Mom waited on the list and got her tickets about 8 or 9 years ago. She was offered the chance to purchase additional tickets and we got ours. If you have another chance to go to Martinsville, take it!It is a really cool track, all the seats are good, and it is one of the last tracks not owned by one of the "corporations". It is my second favorite track.We like short tracks-can you tell?

How long did she wait on the list? Do y'all get the option each year to buy more tickets or are they all in your mom's name? Just curious, LOL.


If the people wouldn't have needed to sell all 4 tickets for both races together we would have bought the 2 for the Cup race but we didn't have the $425 to let go of and then not be able to find a couple that wanted to buy them. I should start a NASCAR savings account for races and such, that'd be a good Valentine's day gift!!


By the way, we love short tracks too! I'd love to have the money to go to several a year. I want to go to a couple this year because we plan on having our second child next year so it'll be 2008 before we get to go to any more if we don't get after it now, lol. I can't wait until 2008 to go racing again!! It's been since '03 since we've seen a live race. How sad!! Actually, that race was the first race we had ever seen, live or otherwise and Ryan Newman won it! That's how he became our man. He caught our attention that day and then we saw how classy he is and he seems like such a great all around person so we have stuck with him for our fav. We also like Elliot Sadler, Dale Jarrett, Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards. And I like Tony Stewart but hubby doesn't. But none of them compare to Ryan to us!!


Ok, I'll quit rattling. It's cool to chat with someone who loves racing too and gets to actually go see races. I'll have to live vicariously through you Shelley, LOL. God Bless!!

We have been to 5 races (all at Pocono...only live 40 minutes away)...and this year we will once again be at both Pocono Races and maybe 1 Dover race (Still trying to arrange care for my children for that day...LOL).


You truly don't understand the speed of the cars until you actually see it and feel it. It is AMAZING!!!

I agree Dawn! We are in withdrawals SOOO badly counting down til Daytona!! How would we go about getting us a folder? It might be a great way for us to find out about tickets and discounts and such from each other!!


PS-I want to meet Tony Stewart too!!!! There's something about him that I just take to. I don't know if it's his attitude or if I sense something teddy bear like about him, whatever it is, I like the fire outta him!

Nascar was going to put in a track here in Yelm, Wa. but towns' people made a stink about it- so no go. Would've been great for revenue for the town. Now we have a super Walmart coming in. What can I say- lol

OH Yes....The countdown to Daytona.....33 days 17 hours and 30 minutes as of right now...LOL. I am excited for the Shoot outs to start...to me that is the beginning of the season (I will take any racing).


Tony is a really really nice guy.....Our whole family are Tony fans (my son's room is now Nascar and Tony of course)...and Tony and my daughter held a conversation and she was just tickled pink! I like you LOVE his attitude!!!!


They are putting a new race track in New York...scheduled to be done in 2011....I already told my hubby as soon as we can get on a wait list, we will....I want to be at thefirst ever race there (I hope I can make it happen....LOL) I think the track is only like 1hr 45 minutes away.


I can request that Cheryl put up a Nascar folder.....off to do that now!

It seems like once you get the Bristol tickets, you are always offered more,which is why the waiting list is so long-you have to wait for someone to die!!(just joking) All I can say is get on the waiting list,you might get lucky. We lucked into some Richmond tickets by entering a drawing we forgot about and one day my Mom gets a phone call that she won. That was years ago and she still has the tickets Richmond is a great track too,esp. the night race.I have met Tony too and he was very nice and held a short conversation with us.That is my husbands guy and I like Dale Jarrett.

Thanks for posting that Dawn, it's AWESOME!!! He is so good looking in such a rugged way! I'm happily married but my goodness, some of these Nascar drivers are so nice looking you can't help but notice!! I think Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart and Elliot Sadler are the best looking of them all!

Tony is oh so good looking..and I am completely hooked on everything that man does: )

LOL Dawn, I used to like Jamie McMurray til him and Kenseth got into it in the '04 season. Now I can't hardly stand to look at him without griping. That and the fact that him and Rusty Wallace are tight and well, we all know that I can't like Rusty Wallace cuz he doesn't like Newman,lol. He is nice looking though, just not quite as...how shall I put it, he just doesn't strike me as good looking in as masculine a way as Tony, Ryan and Elliot.


Thanks for requesting the folder. I wonder if she'll do it. I hope so, it'll be fun. I can just imagine how heated we'll all get every Sunday night or Monday morning after the races. That would be a blast!! I love racing so much because everyone has a different driver and are SOOOOO faithful to them. It's a big soap opera,lol.

HeeHee Dawn, I hope you don't mind but I had to copy that pic and send it to my mother. She is all up in some Tony Stewart!!! LOL I just knew she would truly appreciate the man in the pic just as we do,lol. She's the whole reason we ever started watching Nascar. Her and her husband took us to the race in Texas that Ryan won. Had they not, we would never have watched it. But once you've seen it live you can't stop watching. Anyway, she was a die hard Stewart girl and since we knew nothing about racing I was rooting for him. Plus she had told me about his little attitude and how everyone zeroed in on him for it and let everyone else's attitude problems slide calling it "just racing" when someone else did something stupid. So, I kinda felt like he was an underdog. Anyhoo, I stuck with him from then on and the more I saw him the more faithful I got to pulling for him after Ryan of course,lol.


Sorry for the big story. I get so excited about all this stuff. I wish I could be like Ryan Newman's fan club president or treasurer or SOMETHING, LOL. I would love to figure out a way to be involved with racing. Oh to dream......

Girl, you've met Ryan Newman too? You lucky dog you!! One day we are gonna have the time and money to go to several races a year, or at least 2 or 3. Being in Louisiana, the closest is Texas and Talledega. We are gonna try for Talledaga this year. We'll see though. I'll email ya tomorrow for those pic girlfriend! God Bless~

I don't know anything about racing, but my hubby goes with his cousin to Charlotte every Memorial weekend. His favorite is Matt Kensuth... he has the license plate and a hat he wears a lot. His cousin likes someone else, and had just bought a new digital camera before they went last year. He took over 1000 pictures while they were there!!!!


It made me laugh so hard cause he used to tease his wife about taking too many pictures and then he takes over 1000 in two days???? How is that even possible???
