My sis and I are wanting to make some gift baskets for Valentine's and are trying to find some good baskets for a reasonable price. Someone on the Gift Basket board suggested Big Lots, which I hadn't even considered, so I'll be going there to see what they have. I know Michael's is a little pricey and I haven't been able to find anything online.

Any suggestions before I take to weaving my own dang baskets? smileys/smiley36.gif

I've heard Joanne's Fabrics has some sweet deals when they've got the sales on baskets - generally 50% off, and some are clearanced down. Dollar Generals and Family Dollars - and even the Dollar Store would be some good sources for some wicker and even metal baskets - I'd even check in the cosmetics area because they always have some neat stuff to hold makeup, jewelry andnick nacksthat could be used. (some would be perfect for a two to three votive gift pack!)

I also heard Big Lots was a good place. Ben Franklin also has great sales on them.

I know it is not exactly garage sale season, but I was able to pick up some great ones really cheap at garage sales last fall. They were in excellent condition and about 50 cents each.smileys/smiley2.gif

Hi Mrs. Magnolia!smileys/smiley17.gif

Are you going to do Mia Bella votive roses? Jars?

There is a store here in the Chicago area called World Markets, that has ton of baskets and things you can put in gift baskets along with our wonderful products. But I don't remember seeing them in Florida... hmmm.

Have you done a search on the net? That might give you some options. Also, feel free to ask your question in our Team Yahoo Groups and check out the archives.

Sounds like you and your sis are going to have some FUN!smileys/smiley2.gif

Dlloar Stores and garage sales. You can buy them cheap and paint them if needed.

Try thrift stores. There is one in my town that always has nice baskets for less than $1.

I bought all my baskets at the dollar tree. They had some nice xmas ones and plain ones. I am set for awhile. ;) They had tons of them before xmas...keep checking because their inventory changes weekly!

I did buy some at walmart in the craft section they are the smaller laundry baskets is what they are called they were only 1.88 each!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions, ladies! I knew I could count on y'all!smileys/smiley1.gif

I went to Wal-Mart this past weekend and they just didn't have a very big selection. I was surprised! Maybe it was just that Wal-Mart? I went to JoAnn's last night and they don't have a sale going on so most of them were more than I'm wanting to spend. I wasgoing to Dollar General next to see what they have. I'll have tocheck and see if there's a DollarTree near me. I've not seen a Ben Franklin's or World Market around here so I'll have to check on thoseas well. I didn't even think about thrift stores either!

My online search hasn't gone very well. Most of the baskets I found already have gifts in them so that defeats the purpose! smileys/smiley36.gifWe're wanting to put candles and sweets in them mostly, maybe a few crafts. I hadn't thought of making the votive roses. That's a good idea. So much to do!

Thanks again!smileys/smiley31.gif

Hi! I know you mentioned that Michael's is pricey. True. But sometimes, at least in my area they put seasonal items on sale, really great things, they put them in big bins out front.I found some really nice baskets in there for not very much. Walmart doesn't have a very good selection. Lesly

I usually go to Wal Mart, the Dollar Store, some ethnic stores (they have very interesting weaves and colors and are cheap!).

I also (tisk tisk) get ALOT of gift baskets for say like Christmas, or my birthday. Usually soaps sets and food baskets (occasionally candles sets) so I re-use those too.

World Market and ROSS, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx have very good basket selectionand some are verybeautiful, and most of the time, they're clearanced out!Edited by: abbysmom

Michaels' in my area was having a huge basket sale the other day. I don't know if it is still going on but they were all 50% off. Check Joann's.com and see if they are doing any clearance sales.
