O.k., I could really use some prayers here, like many I am sure, for business. Since I moved to our area in June, I did not have a warm market to start w/ and had to use my "cool" market, a.k.a, my real estate agent who gave me my first party. Well, the leads from that are now gone and I cannot get a party booked. I am getting a bit nervous. I have no one else to turn to for that "hey could you do me a favor" approach. I know in time I will run into people through my cold market, but I really do not want to lose my district title. I have one consultant that is doing the business, but I wouldn't really consider her a bb, she is just doing it on the side for the extra retail profit. My husband is now at the point where he wants to start seeing some income from all the time and effort I have put into my business. Ugghh... I so have the drive and committment! I just keep hearing all my no's now. What has everyone done who is in similar situations? I am doing a craft fair this weekend, but have not had much success in the past. But I know I can't have that attitude going into it or I will have no success. I have joined a mom's club, but I don't want it to come across that I only joined to get new clients. So, personal stories and words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated ladies! I consider you all my upline and team since my actual upline is across the country. Thanks!

I am not with Arbonne, but I had the same experience. We moved 900 miles away from where I started my business. I knew no one except for the 2 Realtors. They did have a business showcase, but nothing came from it after that day. I live in a neighborhood with a lot of Seniors.

I finally met some neighbors who are younger and like you, didn't want to come across as only wanting them for clients. I told them I owned my own business and left it at that. A few weeks later, these new neighbors (now friends too) were talking about how stressed out they were. I invited them over for a spa. It was very casual and I got to use the products too. It soon turned into bookings and sales and now I am meeting more people.

I got involved with my Daughter's school. She is in Pre-K 3 at a private school. Their women's club has a spa night a couple of times of year. Attendance was low, but got 4 bookings out of 6 people in the room!

Ask the head of your Mom's group if they do pampering parties. Also, check with schools to see if you can participate in their teacher appreciation lunches.

If you attend church, get involved with activities there to meet more people.

Think outside the box and never give up!

Good luck to you!

Barbara,

I will definitely add you and your business to my prayer journal!

I understand your hesitation to mention your business at the mom's club, but I do think you are taking the right steps by getting out, getting involved, meeting people and building relationships with them!!!

Even if you never mentioned your business to those moms would you still enjoy being with them and getting to know them? If so, I would not feel bad about mentioning at least that you have a home biz that lets you spend more time with your kids, earn extra $, etc. because obviously that is not the only reason you are there.

Let your genuine interest in and care forothers shine through. Stay positive! I know it is difficult, because I struggle with it, too, but do not be brought down by the NOs!

I remember in the 10/27/2005 Learn and Burn about Cultivating a Network of Endless Prospects,Bob Burg talked about the importance of maintaining your mental posture, and how it is easier to do if you see your list of prospects as infinite vs. finite.

I also think this week'sLearn and Burn will be good for those of us struggling with this!

What about long-distance contacts from places you have lived in the past? Have you had any success with them?Edited by: Shana

Thanks so much Vicki and Shana! See, I even have an upline from a different business!smileys/smiley2.gifGotta love that! I have tried many of the approaches mentioned, some w/ good outcomes, some w/ bad. (The bad being I almost had a teacher appreciation party booked at a school b/c the principle bought the RE9 set, but she didn't like her results. MPO didn't give it enough time) I guess I just need to refocus and realize that I may not be the one to reach RVP in 2 minutes, but I still need to enjoy the journey! As far as my husband, I think as long as he sees I am staying committed, he will be patient also! Talk about timing though, one of my new acquaintances/friends throughs the moms club is going to test the RE9 set for a couple days! She has been buying the baby line for almost 2 years now through a consultant her mom works w/ out of state. I asked her if she new about the wholesale option and that I didn't want to "take" business away from the other consultant. She didn't know she could save 35% and she feels no obligation to the other consultant b/c she doesn't even know her and she has to have everything shipped seperatetly to her. So, I guess it is fair game??? I tried to use the golden rule "do what you would want done to you" and I think I wouldn't mind if a client I had never even met found a consultant through an acquaintance/friendship nearby. So, we will see what happens! Thanks again and God bless your businesses and efforts also!

Yay for your friend trying the RE9 set!!!

About the principal, I never know what to say when someone does not like or is not very impressed withthe results, which does happen more than I would like. All the training indicates that everyone should always rave about the product, or they must be using the wrong thing but sometimes this is just not the case. Oh well, a topic for another thread smileys/smiley1.gif

I think we can all learn from each other; no matter what company we are with! I will always share if I think it will help. The key is to never give up. It will fall into place. All it takes is one very excited person and you are on your way!

I sincerely hope you all have a very successful 2006!

Barbara,

Last month I spent a lot of time with a potential recruit who happened to be a man. I quickly learned that he was VERY interested in the business side of our business and less so in our product (in short, he felt like he could sell anything provided that the business was successful). Although he ultimately chose to go with another company (that's a publicly traded company), I learned one big lesson. Never rule anyone out! We know that from the trainings but I got to see it firsthand.

And in my case, I'm now pursuing MEN a little more!!!!! And I'm not sparing anyone!!!!! For example, I'm going to have lunch this week with a guy who was a baker in town. He and his family owned the bakery for 40+ years, he's in his 40's and the family recently sold the business. So I plan on telling him about the BUSINESS and then about the product. But the idea is to tell him that this is a viable, legitimate and profitable business and then find out if this is something that'll interest him or anyone else he knows from the business community.

Can't say I've had much luck with this yet but it's something I recently came up with because I don't have a warm market either.I'm very excited about it because I'm SURE I'll be able to push the right business buttons for SOMEONE!!!!

Maybe you can draw some inspiration from it and make it work for you. Good luck.
