Just to give everyone a heads up, I talked to cumtomer service about something yesterday and when we were finished she said she was to let everyone who called know that the recruiting price was going up next month. That's the first time I heard of them telling us a head of time. She didn't say what itwas going to but I was hoping it won't go up.

Oh! Thanks for letting us know, I was hoping it was going to go DOWN! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif

The guy I just spoke with at consultant care couldn't confirm this information.

That's so strange....the gal with whom I spoke this morning in consultant services said the exact same thing only it went like this...."don't forget to recruit this month because the price might be higher next month". When I asked her if she knew something, she said no, "of course not" with a big laugh!

So weird. I called specifically asking if it was going up, and he wouldn't tell me anything.

Gosh! I was hoping that by August they would have their "typical" $99.00 August special. I signed up last August, but let my membership lag. I couldn't get to BeautiU. The first class was cancelled, and the next one was on a day that I had a prior (important family matter) commitment. Then I lost interest......It will be nice to know if they truly have their August kit sale again (I know, it's not quite July yet.....lol http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif). I've been using @rbonne but it's getting too pricey lately even with the 35% discount! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley6.gif

When I first started, there were certain months like July, October and November that were $250 to join. Even if it goes back to that price, it is a lot of product for the price that comes in the kit!
I wish you all much success in your business and have a great Celebration!

They used to give a bunch of extra product when it was that price as well. I think my MIL got the TDS set and body glue included for the $295 price.

Ladies I want you to understand that a number of women don't see how much product you get, they see the price tag. I really wish BC would settle on a price, say $125 and stick with it. Hey, $99 would be even better. I really feel BC women could recruit better. Since corporate reads these message boards, head up!
The thought occured to me this morning--my husband is talking to IT recruiters--that as a recruiter, they are competing against other personnel groups for both the same applicants and often the same jobs. There are only so many to go around in this economy.
That applies to BC as well. It occured to me that in my city it's like a pool. The Mary Kay women are out there, the sharp agressive Arbonne women are other there, and the BC women are too. There's a certain mindset in that pool that sees:
Arbonne: it's only $29 to join and then it's 35% off of everything and you get a free product!
Mary Kay: It's only $100 to join
Beauticontrol: It's $179 to join--or $125--(sometimes it's been $250)
When it's $99 it's competitive. So BC consultants are up against two companies that are out there, working it.
Now, I do know that a lot of women sign up and don't do anything. but there are some that do. BC does their own reserach into this area but oftentimes it's the ladies in the field who know what's going on.
It also depends upon the affluency of your area of the country and your particular circle of friends. But in my area, the cheaper, the better.

I don't mind our graduated discount structure, and I think that our package is fabulously put together, to get everything that a consultant gets for a great price. I do however, agree, that from a business perspective, it would be great to have one consistent price. Keep in mind also that in Canada, our package can go up to $275.00 - not that I have seen it that high first hand. I really think that as a business owner if we ran my husband's company with one price one month and another price another month that his clients would see it as double minded and they would never know what to expect. I really believe that as consultants we are BC's largest "client" base and I know that their marketing department would present a fabulous arguement for why they structure the business kit pricing the way they do - being a billion $$ big company - however, from a consultant perspective, if I could change one thing it would be to pick a package price and stick with it. I think it does project a certain way when the other companies out there keep their prices at one "set price". This might also help to prevent booking and recruiting blitzes only during promotions and help to set up a foundation for a more consistent recruiting pattern. I know that anyone who I sign up at the end of a month, I feel nervous about as I don't know if the kit price is going to down or up in a week. And in a world where people take things back to Costco and Walmart for overnight price changes I get nervous to sell something that might drop $50.00 in 2 days.
Any other thoughts out there? With that being said however, I really appreciate all that this company does for us as consultants and I have never seen so many incentives nor such great client/consultant care anywhere and I guess at the risk of sounding cliche......you can't buy that kind of service anywhere.smileys/smiley1.gif I suppose that knowing what I know now about the company that I would have bought the package at $129.00 or @ $275.00 if I were wearing my business hat....If I were wearing my "deal" hat I might have just bought a few products instead at the $275.00 price.....which makes me wonder then if this is an opportunity that the business provides us to make some anytime money and to build up our retail client base. And then how easy is it to call gals who have been using our products for a month and who have fallen in love with them, to offer them the package promotion in August when the price drops again? I think that there is definitely a way to see the positive if we choose, and to take advantage of the way the company structures their promotions.

Princess and believer I agree with you two. Princess you do a good anaylsis and Beauticontrol should hire you!
Beauticontrol is not really a billion dollar business, they are working toward it, but they are part of tupperware, which is a billion dollar business. I did read on Beautinet that Beauticontrol cracked that top 50 personal use companies, which shows they are growing.
Believer you are so right when you saw the consultant is the consumer. I think we as consultants order more than we ever sell.
Also I would like to see more consistency in the discounting. The comparison of taking something back to walmart the next day is a good one, for both the kit and the product.

I try to look at it this way: I signed up for $99. I do not under any circumstances live in a rich part of town. I actually consider the area I live in to be a pretty bad part of town (I have heard gunshots down the street, have had a drug house next door, etc.) When I became a consultant, I struggled to make the bills next month, and $99 was a huge chunk of money to me. I signed up for the deal and that is it. I am only a VIP now, not making huge Director commissions, but if they changed the way they did things tomorrow and said "Everyone has to repurchase their kit and it is $500" I would find a way to make that money. This company got me out of a job that had me so depressed that I came home every day in tears because I didn't want to go back and I cried myself to sleep almost every night. I don't think you can put a price tag on that.
I'll agree that not having consistency can be frustrating. But I look at the kit like it will be going back to $250 next month. Period. If it is on sale again, that is awesome. But at $250, you are still getting nearly 50% off of the products in it. As far as comparing the kit price to other ds companies' prices, I think a lot more comes with our kit price than what comes with those and I am not just talking about product here. If I had joined xyz company, I never would have met my awesome Director or any of the other amazing Directors in our Executive Team. Our training is second to none as far as I am concerned. There are just so many things that BeautiControl offers us, and I try to look at them as things that do not have to be offered to us. Instead, they are things that BeautiControl chooses to do for us because they care. I think sometimes we get so spoiled by the sales and things, we start to think that we deserve the world and that BeautiControl should just give us everything. I try to just appreciate the things they give us instead of thinking up more things I "deserve" for free or whatever.
The last thing I want to say to put it in perspective is this: I got to hear Donna Schuester speak earlier this week, and something she said really hit home with me. She said that when she became a consultant, she SOLD HER CAR to pay for the kit. Now, I don't expect anyone to do that of course, but the point is if someone really understands the value of these products and the opportunity in front of them, they will find a way to take control and make it happen. We don't all have the money, in fact I think a lot of us are stretched pretty thin, but if you are passionate about what this company has to offer, its pretty easy to show that to someone else. If they want it, they will take charge and go for it.
I hope this puts a different light into everything. I know sometimes if we try to be positive we get criticized for it a little bit, but I think it really helps to twist things around sometimes and try to see them a bit differently.

I think the main reason they do it is to create a sense of urgency. If it's always the same price, it's so easy to say "I'll sign up next month." How many are recruiting this week by telling people it will probably go up next month? Also, at $295 (in Canada), the main deal they are purchasing is the future discounts. It also makes the ordering opportunity look better because it's a better discount than what they're getting with their kit.
I recently went to a passion party and was intrigued that they offer 3 different kits. One has only business supplies and a few demo items, then they get bigger from there. It would be a neat idea to implement something like that to appeal to all income brackets. The bigger kit would just include the ordering opportunity, and the biggest would be 2x the ordering opportunity. Something like that...

I thought I had heard that it would not be $99 again, that $125 was the lowest it would get. I thought it was on this board though, so maybe I'm just imagining things. Anyway, I wouldn't hold out for $99 anymore b/c I think $125 is the new "lowest" price.

I can relate to everyone's comments & feelings on this post ...but I'm ok with BC adjusting the sign up fee every month. After 5 yrs...you just get used to it maybe??? I am saddened to hear they don't offer the $99 anymore because it was very easy to recruit at that fee...so if it was always $99 and never changed....that would be boring now wouldn't it??? I get excited every month to log onto Beautinet to see what the recruiting promotion will be. Whatever it is, I try to find a way to break it down for a new recruit to be able to pay for it with a couple of spas. Since learning to do this, it has been so much easier to recruit and be comfortable with sharing the business opportunity.$250 is a very low fee to start your own business. Here issome info Igot todayfrom Brian Tracy that I thought was interesting and my apply to this post.

Especially selling, organizing, making presentations, accounting, team building, negotiating, persuading, and communicating. 85 percent of what you need to learn to be successful in business you can learn from running a successful multi-level marketing business.

I believe the different prices challenge the individual to think outside the box and to see if they can "recruit" at different levels. I do wish that once you are promoted that you would stay there instead of going down. Especially for the ones like me who are working but their team is just not strong enough yet to pull through. I was Manager twice and was bumped down to VIP simply because my team didn't make enough........that is sad considering I have over 30 on my team! I am making Manager next month!!!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

Just a reminder...BeautiControl is truly not a Multi-Level Marketing company. The only category we truly fit under is Direct Sales. We have unlimited career growth opportunity, and we are not limited by the people above us. In true MLMs, the person who recruits you will reap the benefits of recruiting you and anyone else you add to the team. The way the rules are now, I believe, you must participate in the company in some form in order to receive those benefits.
For example, I drink a juice, and my husband is a distributor. We order the maximum amount of juice that you need to maintain your maximum potential, which is the same amount every month. He receives a check every month for the people he has signed up under him that drink the juice. You never have to purchase more than 2 cases a month in order to get maximum benefits. Basically, all you have to do is drink the juice every month and the checks keep rolling in. There is one difference though betweenthis company in BeautiControl....in this company my husband will NEVER get ahead of the person who introduced him to the company. If he moves up a level, he will also be pushing the person above him up a level! He will always be benefitting the person who recruited him.
With BeautiControl, we need to be considered a direct sales company with career levels. If you are recruited by your best friend and she doesn't ever want to become a director, you can go gun-ho to your heart's content, and you can easily become a Sr. Nat'l Exec Director without her ever moving past a senior consultant. That is the difference. You actually have to work in order to make it up the ladder, just like any other regular company. The great difference with BC though is that WE can control how slow or how fast we move up the ladder and the amount of time we need to put in versus working a regular full-time job!
Now that I have finally stopped trying to do things my way and listening to the successful ways of the seasoned BC consultants, my business is finally starting to pick up, and I am spending MUCH less time working on my business! I would GLADLY pay $30,000 or more if I had to just to have the opportunity to be my own boss and do what I want and make more money than I could working in an office!!
Just my two cents!

Thanks for sharing the differences between your juice company levels and BC....I used to do a juice type of business as well but realized BC is my true passion...I get asked all the time by other Direct Sales and MLMs to join....they say, "you'd make a great consultant"....I say probably so but the passion you're seeing is from me doing something I love and truly believe in.

Here is what I found:
Body Exotics Body Splashes and Lotions
Amor – Seductive blend of ripe berries, peach nectar, freesia florals and sweet,
warm scents of sugar musk.
Baby Baby – A fresh combination of crisp pear, cool coconut and the citrus
sensations of pineapple and lemon warmed by sweet vanilla.
Exotica – A tempting mix of tangy orange, juicy apple, sweet peach, jasmine and
vanilla.
• Urban Life for Him fragrance
Our newest men’s fragrance is a woodsy fragrance, combining fresh citrus notes
with light floral musk.
• Love Fool for Her fragrance
This romantic, flirtatious and fabulous fragrance combines citrus notes of orange,
strawberry and passion fruit, and blends them with the notes of jasmine, plum, rose

I think my Director said that the new Splashes and Lotions are going to be around $15.. to make them a good 'add-on' purchase.
