I was wondering if some of you ladies might be able to help me in being more prepared when choosing a realtor to sell my house. My husband and I would like to interview local realtors before we choose one. What are some good questions to ask? Should we go into their office to interview them, or would calling them be ok?
Thanks for the help!

Hi Christi,
For some reason this is a hard question to answer. Different areas do things differently.
I am in a rural area & a local agent who is a member of the MLS is a better choice then a high power agent that lives 45 minutes away & don't want to waste there time with a rural listing once theagreements are signed.Open houses do not do well in my area & word of mouth by local agents go much farther then advertising in newspapers.
I would start with.
1. Find out if agent is a member of their local mls and what areas they cover. (MLS is a computer system that agents belong to so they can sell each others properties.)
2. Go with a local agent.
3. What is the commission & are there any other fees involved.
4. How else do the advertise (internet, newspaper, open house.) Again, this depends on your area. The MLS & walk'in business is best in my office, but a more populated area may need extra ads or open houses
5. Does the Agents office co-broke? (allow other agents from different offices to sell their properties.)
You should be able to get this info over the phone. I would then narrow it down to a few agents & have them come to your house.
I ultimately, would go with one who gives theirhonest opinion ina nice way. Iprefer an agent who would suggest Istore some of myjunkto make rooms & closetslook bigger then to look at my mess & not say anything. They should also let you know if they think rooms need to be painted or yardwork done. It does not mean you have to do them. But this tells me they know there business & serious about selling your home.
Also, don't go with anagent just becausethey say they can get you the highest price for your home . Make sure they can back it up with a "CMA" Comparative Market Analysis.
Good Luck!! You can never go wrong with an agent that makes you feel comfortable, tells you their opinions, but remembers that you are the boss & will be the one who makes the decisions. Go with your gut!!
