I've kicked around the idea of learning how to make candles before but I have never really researched it. I was just wondering what all is involved in getting started and how expensive it is.
I'm just looking for some ways to possibly make some extra money and find a hobby for myself at the same time.

Hi,
You may want to do some research on the costs of the items to make them. Some are not to expensive but when you add them all up it can get there. There are times where I can spend a couple hundred easily in one visit to the supplier I use.
I would suggest that you check out the pricing and go from there to see if its workable for you. Making candles is a wonderful stress reliever, and a great hobby but I would try making them first its not as easy as it looks. Then test the ones you make to see if its something that you would like to continue to do. I wouldn't buy a ton of things to start off with just a few to give it a try. Now I am in no way trying to tell you NOT to do this. I am saying that a lot of people think that this is just a really simple hobby and it all works from the start. Not so.
So do a little research then get your first one made and go from there. If you love it then keep practicing till you get the perfect candles. Then turn it into a little more then a hobby by selling them but get insurance first. Good luck and happy candle making.

Candlemaking is a great hobby!
As for the moneymaking part....you got supplies, shipping for the supplies(which can be costly!)testing, testing, testing, and more testing.
Then, the sore subject of insurance.
Definetly, start small and build from there.

You need insurance because if someone is injured while using your candle they can sue you. Always good to protect yourself
