I just had a hostess cancel on me because no one was coming to her party. She wanted a Saturday at 2:30 so I went with it. In retrospect, that is a terrible time to get people to a party! What was I thinking?
I've found Friday evenings and late Sunday afternoons get the best turnout for me.
Which day of the week or what time seems to have the best turnout for you?

Usually I talk with the host or hostess about his/her group of friends and help them to pick the best day/time of the week for thier group. For example, some people are that "work hard, play even harder" kind of crowd and although they work a traditional Monday through Friday kind of job, they tend to be SUPER busy on the weekends. So, a Wednesday or a Thursday might be better for them.
Sometimes a Saturday or a Sunday at 2:30 works, but I would venture to say at least 95% of the time, that is the absolute worse. It seems as though people get up on the weekends, and get going with their day (cleaning, errands, fun stuff, whatever) and to suddenly remember to stop right smack dab in the middle of their day to go to a friends in-home party is something that is easily missed or too easy for them to brush off. I imagine most find themselves later in the day, perhaps close to dinner and saying to themselves, "Oh no! I was suppose to go to so-and-so's house hours ago!"

I work 7:30 - 4:00 M-F and my hubby works Tues evenings and 12 hr shifts on the weekends. So, I'm only available Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri for 6:00 or 7:00 shows. It's been working out fine so far.

For whatever reason, Tuesday and Thursday night shows usually have a great turnout and are great party nights. I tend to shy away from Saturdays (and I don't work on Sundays), since a lot of people save Saturdays for family time.
In any case, I try to accomodate my host to whichever time works best for her. It's all good in the end!

I agree Patti! Though there isn't really a formula. I do parties in different cities, and every town isa little different. Though I do avoid Wednesday because it's church night.

I have learned not to ever do parties at 6 or 6:30 pm, because people have SEVEN in their head and we sit around waiting for guests to arrive!
I like weeknights myself, and will do the occasional weekend afternoon if that works well for the hostess! As already said, each person, group, area is different.

I usually avoid Mondays and Wednesdays. Mondays, it seems like too many people forget about the party because they're not back into the swing of things yet -- and Wednesdays, because a lot of people have church activities.
Other than that, most days seem to work okay.

I've had some great parties on Sat mornings ~ like 10/10:30am ~ the guests come by, get their shopping done..have some fun and then they're off for the day to do whatever. I also do Tues mornings and evenings..both have worked wellsmileys/smiley4.gif

I do Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday shows. I don't usually have a problem with Saturday at 2pm shows. In fact, that's when the majority of my shows book. I tend to shy away from Fridaynights b/c people want to relax and party (read - unwind with a drink) and we ask that alcohol is not served at our shows for legal liability reasons. I guess it all depends on you, your businessand your hostess.
This year I'm trying a new approach. I'm marking ONE weekend a month for my business and the rest of the calendar is marked with weeknight show dates. Right now I'm booking every Saturday but realizing that I'm not seeing my family (as I'm still working part-time outside the home M-F). I'm hoping it will allow me more control over my calendar and more time with my kids - which is most important!! smileys/smiley2.gif

I have shows on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday Nights. If I can find Office Parties during the day then that's Great! and I'll hold those on any day but Monday (always a bad office day)...
But I have found that Saturday at 2:00 isa greattime for a show! I always have 10 or more guests at these and I have all my Saturadys booked through February 11th (with 2 scheduled for next Saturday, one at 2:00 and another at 7:00)
....I think it is because they can sleep in orrun their errarnds in the morning, come do some SHOPPING in the afternoon, and still go out to dinner with Hubby/Boyfriend at night!

I think it definintely depends on where you live and perhaps what you're selling. I stay away from Wed, Fri, and Saturdays. Church on Wed nights and sports and kids sports on Saturdays. I don't like togiveup my Friday night with my husbandsmileys/smiley36.gif
I absolutely LOVE Sunday afternoon parties. I have fantastic attendance! The hostesses love it too b/c it gives them plenty of time to get ready. Plus, my husband is usually watching sports anyway, so I'd rather be working!
I also do parties on Tues and Thurs and if I need to book another night, I do Mondays. (I actually have great attendance on Mondays)
I always have my family's dates marked off on my calendar along with all my parties and then I give the available dates out. Works great for me!
I usually do about 6 parties a month, but this month is Double Hostess DOllars and the first month of counting sales towards the General Incentive Trip, so I go a little crazy. I booked 10 and one week I have 4 shows in a row! That's always a little tough, but it'll be worth it when I can earn a trip for both my husband and me!

I had a show on Sat too and it was not good.
I always have high high party sales. Not Sat. It was at 1pm. People are busy on Saturdays! With their kids, family etc. I have found that Middle of the week, Wed Thurs and Fridays are best! It breaks up peoples work week and gives them some fun to look forward too and on Friday's it just starts the weekend off right, and it is pay day. smileys/smiley2.gif

Fri nights have been good, as well as thurs.. i have done sunday afternoons with great turnout too! Again, depends on the people and their friends.. also on a weeknight 7 or 7:30 seems best b/c a lot of husbands aren't home until close to 7 or its bedtime, etc..
