What companies do you all sell for? Do they require a license, and if so do they help pay for it? Also is Insurance a business you can do as a "work at home" business, or do you have to go to an office every day?

To offer some products such as insurance and investments there is a license required. Some companies do subsidize the cost of licensing. With others you will have to pay for it upfront. Even with paying upfront the potential for the return of investment on being licensedis high. Something to think about is companies will subsidize a license, but the training agent can make up the difference from your training sales. So in business nothing is totally free. The cost and licensing requirements are different perindividual state.
As for working from home, yes people can work from home. As long as you have a computer, internet and a printer/fax it's not a problem. One great thing about the business is you can start part-time. Once you get the license you own the license, not the marketing organization.
There's a few more considerations to look at when looking for a company to market with but the most important things to look at are who will own the clients and downline and is there a noncompete clause within the agent agreement if you decide to leave the organization.
Noncompete clause: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-compete_clause (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-compete_clause)
When looking at the compensation look to see if you attain a certain commission level do you have to constantly requalify to hold that commission level? Is the marketing organization captive or independent?
What are the advancement requirements? Can you advance form personal production or do you also have to recruit? You see when recruiting is a requirement, that means you will have to totally depend on someone else for your advancements.us. Most people who are part-time join a marketing organization and depending on if they are captive (Can only sell the products that company offers) or are independent agents (can offer many different companies) sell a variety of products.
As for the marketing organization i'm with it's HBW Insurance & Financial Services. We have the ability to offer Insurance, Investments and Mortgages (No licensing required Nationwide) products. Also we have no restrictions on outside activities as long as it's compliant and legal.

Our company does not require a license because we offer discount health plans - the alternative to insurance. Many of our members are uninsured, underinsured, or can't afford the insurance rates and/or deductibles.
We are rated the #1 Health Discount Plan Company in the USA and - yes, we do work at home, too!
Best of Luck in your Endeavors!

We don't require licensing either and have so many opportunities for working at home. I have considered a licence and now am going to look into it. But I work with so many licensed agents now that I have lots of opportunites to find the best products out there.
I am in South Carolina. Anyone else who has gotten licensed here? What did you have to do?

40 hours of prelicensing. I suggest Life and Health combined. From what I see from a prelicensing provider it can be done in class, self study or online. Then a state test.
Here is some testing info:

S.C Ins. Dept.: http://www.doi.sc.gov/
Here is the state Insurance dept. link.

Hello,
I am aware of how to get licensed in my state.
I had an interview with New York Life. Great company but they want people working from the office.
I am planning on getting licensed in all four areas -- Life, Health, Property and Casuality.
My question is what opportunities are there to work from home once I am licensed. Can I find work with companies like Liberty Mutual? Can I start my own business? I do not think I am interested in other financial services at first anyway.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
TIA!
Kari

Developed in India, yoga is a spiritual practice that has been evolving for the last 5,000 years or so. The original yogis were reacting, in part, to India's ancient Vedic religion, which emphasized rituals. The yogis wanted a direct spiritual experience -- one on one -- not symbolic ritual. So they developed yoga.Yoga means "union" in Sanskrit, the classical language of India.
According to the yogis, true happiness, liberation and enlightenment comes from union with the divine consciousness known as Brahman, or with Atman, the transcendent Self. The various yoga practices are a methodology for reaching that goal.
In hatha yoga, for example, postures and breathing exercises help purify the mind, body and spirit so the yogi can attain union.
Pranayama breathing exercises help clear the nadis, or channels, that carry prana the universal life force, allowing prana to flow freely. When the channels are clear and the last block at the base of the spine has been
opened, Kundalini rises through the spine, through the central channel called the sushumna-nadi, and joins the crown chakra. According to the tradition, the release of Kundalini leads to enlightenment and union.
