hmmmmm.....good question. I did see something the other day that caught my attention and made me think.
At my local grocery store, there was a lady there who was set up with her jewelry stand at the entrance of the store. If you have some things in stock, perhaps you could set up like that and when someone stops to look, suggest that they earn it for free.
Maybe you could start a birthday club. They have a wish list for their birthday and have their loved ones contact you.
Another spin on the club idea is to get a group of ladies together who agree to speed $5-$10 a month for whoever is having a birthday that month. The down side to that is someone getting their gifts and then bowing out.
I am a part of a couple yahoo groups of DS women from different companies who have a similar agreement. To spend $10 a month with someone else in the group.
I'm sure these ladies will be able to come with some more great ideas for you to work with.

Hi Doreen!
I know this sounds weird - but have you asked anyone if they would like to have a party? Have you had a party where you were the hostess? Also, when you pass out books and flyers, do you collect contact information to follow up on? It never hurts to ask - you are NOT being pushy. If they don't want to give you the information, they don't have to, but if you don't ask, you are letting a possible leadslip away. Don't give up - January is a GREAT month to party!!!

I am doing a fashion show with my new jewelry line. I belong to a
networking luncheon club and I will be accessorizing the fashions with
Azante Jewelry when we do our fashion show next month. I think it
will be great exposure and a ton of fun! Try to find out if there are
any fashion shows going on in your area and ask to be in it with your
line. Now is a great time because clubs love to have Spring fashion
shows.
Team up with other companies too. I will also be accessorizing a
fashion show that our local Weekenders Consultant is putting on for a
Mary Kay opportunity luncheon! Three companies in one show, Mary
Kay, Weekenders and Azante Jewelry!

Go to Curves, or a salon/spaand ask if you can set up your table. I am looking intoClubs. I'll let you know if I have success. How many shows have you done? Go back to your customer list and offer them a pair of earrings if they book a showduring January. Askyour friends to host a party.Ask six of your friends to bring two friends each to your house for a party and give them something. My sister in lawdid this and it worked well. Then raffle off something that the guests can win. Good luck and don't give up.

Doreen, is your upline any help in this? If not, find out who is above her and ask for a meeting for some pointers. And I noted that a lot of our teams are having rallies or whatever in early February. That will keep you pumped up!

Hi Doreen! Another thought is this: "That you make a list of friends & family that you think would be interested in hosting a party or you could host a Grand Opening Party for yourself & send out invitations to those you think would like to come. As always- your Phone is your best way of communicating & advertising. Good Luck!

Hi Doreen! The best thing to rely on to grow your business is ACTIVE means of communication. Decals, flyers, etc, can be GOOD, but being able to talk to people in personand show off your product is always better!
If you have not outright ASKED your warm market, start there (sometimes when we mention or drop hints we think that is the same - but it is not!)
Then I would find a place, like mentioned above, to set up a table a TALK with as many people as you can, once they see the jewerly and what you have to offer, hopefully uo can get some good starts!
The problem with passive means, is tht is takes time and money to do it (make flyers, post them, buy decals, etc) and so you FEEL as if you are working really hard but the result is oftentimes nothing! Take that energy and turn it into CONVERSATIONS that are direct and active! The result is always better!
Good luck!

That is all what I call "passive" advertising. On occassion it works, but rarely. You need to actually TALK to people and then GET their information so that you can follow up with them in a phone call. Then you keep calling them until you speak to them. Leaving a message and assuming they will call you back won't often work. Just talk talk talk with everyone you meet and have a little notebook to get their contact info and go from there.
Have you made your FRANKS list too? Friends, Relatives, Acquaintences, Neighbors, Kid Connections, Spouse Connections. Make the list and start making phone calls. Again, don't stop calling until you actually speak WITH them. Then if they say no or not now, ask for a referral.
Good luck!

Hi Doreen~
I am a Jewelry Lady, too. Sometimes, we are too quick to ask for a show, especially if our calendar is empty. First, make customers ... Ladies who LOVE your jewelry! Then they will want a show.
When I first started I only had 3 bookings and only 1 of those held. So, I Held a Show of My Own! We call it a Mystery Hostess Show...but you could call it anything.
Like a Valentine's "Treat Yourself to Jewelry" Party! INVITE EVERYONE you know for about 2 weeks, make a very BIG DEAL out of it and be very EXCITED!
Give out Drawing Tickets for
1. 1 Ticket for Each item they purchase
2.3 Tickets for "Setting a Date" for a show (Don't say Book)
3.5 Tickets for Listening to the Business Opportunity
Then Hold a Drawing for the Winner of the Hostess Benefits...If it turns out large enough, split it between 2-3 women.
Good Luck! You Can Do This!

I would highly recommend calling everyone from that party especially the ones that ordered. Make sure that they are loving their product. "I just wanted to call and see how you're enjoying your necklace/earrings." Then let them answer. If they've gotten lots of complements then offer them your host program. "Well Jean, I'm thrilled to hear that! Did you know just by having those firends over to see the jewelry, you know they already love it, you can earn $XX in FREE jewelry to add to what you already have?!" Make sure you're very excited about that. It's not about "Will you have a party for me?" It's about WIIFM....what's in it for me (them). They don't care if you have a business or not, but they do care about what they'll get out of it. So, make those calls, again, even if you already have, and go from there. If you're leaving catalogs in a salon, dress shop, etc. Make sure you also ask if you could set up a table for 2 hours (or so)on their busiest day of the week. (Generally Saturday). Then offer the salon owner the host credits for anything that's ordered or if nothing's ordered give her a gift cert. or a piece of jewelry free for letting you be there. You have to be PROACTIVE in your business or you'll just REACT to the bad stuff that comes along.

Are you sharing your awesome hostess benefits with people you talk to? When I was at a party, I just had to book. Who can turn down 40% of your show sales??!! You guys have an awesome plan!

You are so right Leah!
I think a lot of times we forget that hosting really does benefit people! I alwasycoach my hostess to keep things really simple. If it looks like a lot of trouble, others might shy away, but if it looks simple, is a lot of fun, and they get great benefits, people will start asking you to "do a party" for them!

I was in the store the other day and i'm not sure where you all live if there are magazine racks where free publications are like (realter catalogs and free newspapers) but up here in Alaska we have a store called Fred Meyers and they have a big rack with free publications i noticed that there were some baskets that said avon and partylite and they are always empty when i go by. There was a # at the top so i called it come to find out its only 26.50$ a month to leave my catologs there for people to pick up for free. (Ive never seen catologs there for avon or partylite so i think it works pretty well) I signed up and the best thing about it is i can alternate stores (in different towns) each month for a fee of only 2$. So thats my plan with just starting out with liasophia. There's only 2 major stores that people buy at up here Fred Meyers or Carrs(Safeway) and i can alternate between both of them to get the most coverage.
Might be a good idea for you too to check out at your local stores never know doesn't hurt to ask?
Just a thought Shari

Hi Dorreen-
Well I for one am for trying almost anything at least three times or more lol! Here are some ideas for you:
Talk to local coffee shop owners about setting up at a Spring Open House or Holiday Open House. Check out local vendor fairs and craft shows that are not juried www.craftlister.com (http://www.craftlister.com) This is a great way to get out and meet people you wouldn't normally come in contact with. It also is a great source for leads. Also check with local SPAs and Curves to see if they have any events you can participate in.
When I post on community boards I always post at least four fliers because that way if one person takes one there are still more up. Since I believe you are in Ohio I will post some places that I think have worked for me.
Panera Bread
Giant Eagle
Banks ( I drive up to banks and pull in a front parking spot by looking through the window from my spot I can tell if they have a board.)
Laundry Mats
Car Repair Places
Sheetz Gas Stations
ect.........
Early Childhood PTA have been another great way for me to get the word out as I advertise in their newsletters.
I say all this saying I don't know a lot of people in my town and so these have been a great way for me to get out and meet people. Also always leave one for your waitress with her tip.

Yeah a couple-
Check the local bowling alley's sometime they will allow and event to be held. The other option would be to try the Salvation Army and offer to donate some money for use of their gym. The one on Johnston st. has a nice gym. The person to contact would be Captain Dee. I am not sure what their current rental policy is but they have a full size gym. If you can't find a phone number for them PM me and I can get it for you guys. I would be glad to set up for the day.
