Just wanted to introduce myself...Hi i'm Brenda...I am a Consultant in Canada...I have been looking for any tips, tricks, help etc...for getting this business going. I have been onboard now since last March and haven't had much success (most of the reason is my 19 month old son is sooo busy and the rest of the reason is pure laziness and the fact that I am somewhat shy). The info here that I have seen so far has been very helpful..wish I could have gotten in on some of the past mailings of fliers etc...Thank goodness there is a forumfor BC.smileys/smiley4.gif

Welcome to the board! I understand how children can keep you busy and when you have free time you want to just sit!
I will send you the flierst that you saw in other posts. There is a Unit conference call tomorrow and possibly more fliers will come my way. When they do, I will forward them on to you.
Are you in a Mommy group? That is a great way to find stressed out Mommies who need some relaxation!
Good luck with your business. You definitely came to the right place! Lots of ideas are shared by a great group of consultants.
Have a beautiful day!

I had pretty much the same thing happening when I first joined. And although I am not exactly where I want to be in BC, I am doing lots better! I had trouble getting bookings when I first became a consultant. Everyone around my area had been in this longer and had recruits, etc.I couldn't even get a booking. So my recruitor and I went together and rented a booth at local fairs. We did mini pampering sessions and had a gift basket for a prize drawing. To enter the drawing, you had to fill out a contact sheet. I got lots of contacts that way and started filling in empty dates on my calendar. I am still doing spas off of those booth rentals. I also went to a local salon and offered to do customer appreciation free mini spas for her customers once or twice a week.I have a spa scheduled for a young girl who will be graduating - she wants tohave a spa for her friends who are also graduating-she isgonna do it as a P.J. party. I also do them for surprise birthday parties, baby showers, wedding showers, etc. This is just some of the things Ido.I know that there probably aren't any fairs going on nowbut maybe this will spark some ideas for you. I don't receivealot of fliers or information but I am always on the boards looking up ideas and tips- some aren't BC either but the ideas work for me in my business spaing. This board is very helpful- you will "meet" great ladies who are willing to share. Success to you!

Welcome!smileys/smiley1.gif I'm new to BC, just signed on in December.
I haven't been on this board very long myself, but I have found a WEALTH of information--wonderful ideas!!! You will love it here. Everyone is so helpful.
I'm on the shy side too. Not painfully shy, but enough that I have to work around it to some degree. What I have done is started w/my family and friends. I ask them if they will have a spa for me, and then I can build from there from the people they invite. I also keep product guides on me at all times and I give them to the people I come in contact with. Like the checker at Wal-Mart, or the women at the toll gates when I am driving thru to pay a toll. I just give them my money, hand them a product guide w/all my contact info and my BeautiPage address on the back, with an offer for a complimentary spa, and I simply say, "Here, this is for you! I hope to hear from you." I have never had anyone tell me no when I've done that, and 90% of the time they are excited and theysay something like, "Ooooh, thank you!"
One good thing is, by stepping out of your comfort zone and feeling a little nervous, you can recognize that that feeling simply meansyou aregrowing--so go with it! I tell myself that everytime I talk to a stranger. I literally remind myself, "Okay, I'm a little nervous about this, but I'm going to welcome the opportunity for growth--and go with it!" Also remember the worst thing you'll ever hear is just "no." No one is going to scream at you or anything. And I read somewhere that each no is just one step closer to a yes.
Good luck to you!!!!smileys/smiley32.gif

Welcome to WAHM and this board! We are so glad to have you here.
You will definately find a lot of helpful info., and I am sure that BC will start picking up for you! I can totally understand where you are coming from, I have a toddler too, and I am also quite shy. However, once you get past the initial shyness you will do awesome!!
Anyway, my suggestions for you are to ask, ask, ask, and to use the products (which I am sure you already do) so that you are familiar with them, and then your excitement will show through to your clients. This is exactly how I got my family totally hooked on BC!!
Best of luck to you, and I look forward to chatting with you again soon!! smileys/smiley4.gif

Hi,
I am really shy too, and I use to get sick to my stomach when having to get in front of a group and talk.
I overcome this by sitting down at my first few spas, until I got comfortable. Sitting makes you feel like you are not on display.
The other thing is I wanted this so bad, I made myself go out of my comfort zone.
Good Luck to you!

The information should be relevant! Your recruiting promotion is the same, just different dollar amounts. Products and other information you will find on this board are the same.
Welcome to the board! You will find a great bunch of consultants willing to share their ideas and what works for them here!
Have a beautiful day!

Hello and Welcome!
This board is a great place to learn new tips and ideas. It also helps torealize that you are not the only one who is shy. I joined last September and have been having trouble getting bookings. My mom and husbandarealways telling me to be more assertive. That is just not my personality. The ladies here on the BC board offer wonderful support andterrific ideas on how to take steps to get out there and start booking.
I wish you all the luck in your new business!

smileys/smiley17.gif Thanks for your replies this is going to be so much fun.I have read a couple of posts regarding regulations and taxes I hadn't really thought of these things before. I was wondering if anyone knows where Ican get hold of this information for British Columbia, Canada. I am actually Australian and moved here with my family 18 months ago so I don't really know where to start looking for this kind of thing. Also I went to a link from this forum whereby someone's husbands sells the fancy bags and giftwarapping for the sets of products. Is this where you buy these items from? I noticed that BC also offer bags, just wondering what is the nicest way to present the products whilst being cost effective. Just as a side note does anyone know if there are any plans for expension of BC in Australia as I think it wold be a huge success? I know ofa couple of friends who would be fab consultants.
