Is this different from the regular computer headsets that plug into the front of back of your computer?

USB headset have better sound quality, especially voice transmission. USB headsets transmit sound digitally where analog (non USB) converts to digital before transmitting which makes for some distortion, especially for the person on the other end.
You can get a USB adaptor to work with the regular,non USB headsets but they still won't be true USB headsets.
Forgot to say, a headset used for a phone has a single plug where a non USB headset for a computer usually has 2 plugs, 1 for you to transmit out, 1 for you to receive. So, a headset you already have for a phone with 1 plug won't work on the computer for phone work. Edited by: dlandry
