I had 10 parties booked for January before Christmas - I have rec'd one guest list back in the mail, two cancellations, I did get an email tonight from a hostess saying the guest list is in the mail, one is promising to get hers in, the others I can't get ahold of. Ugh....back to the phones again!!

Oh Nora,

I have to tell you, I got kind of a chuckle out of reading your post, then
looking down and reading your signature line...

I know we love what we do, but it can get frustrating at times, can't it?

Here's to a better tomorrow! smileys/smiley4.gif

Unfortunately, cancellations are a part of the business and can be very
frustrating. But...on the bright side it's better than having to show
up to a job that you hate! You will find a party to take its
place, don't worry! And who knows, maybe the cancellation will book a
later party! Don't get discouraged, just go to the next activity!

I am ok so far with the 4 that I have scheduled. Last year parties got cancelled, rescheduled etc. I hope the weather holds up for the next week. smileys/smiley1.gif

I was a very bad girl and did not work in December. So I have NO parties scheduled yet. I scheduled my OWN party. I sat down last night and prepared 40 invitations to MY house for a Bunco party. I hope to book 10 parties out of the 40 (I am still not done. I have to go through a few other lists I have) for parties in February and hopefully thelandslide will take place. Goal is for 15 parties a month --- 10 parties and 5 brochures and 2 fundraisers. Pretty high goal but don'tyouhave to set high goals to achieve even the small one? Call me crazy but I want thePARTIES!!

I have had bad luck in past Januarys with cancellations, low turnout, and weather, so this year I didn't book any in Jan - I booked them in Feb. instead. I am also having an open house to get morebookings like Rachel is doing.

I hear ya on the cancellations!! I've had 4 this month already and a few of them did get rescheduled but still doesn't help this month!

Thanks all for your words of encouragement - I feel better today - I was a little down last night because my puppy got hit by a car - but, the vet just called me with news of the xray, and it turns out that things are going to be OK! (I have a tender spot in my heart for kids and animals!)

I did things a little differently this year and so far it has worked
out really well! I booked the majority of my January parties in
November and I got the host's guests lists immediately. I gave
all of my January hosts a mid-December deadline for getting me their
guests lists and I received all but two of them before the deadline(I
had 7 parties booked). Of the two that I didn't receive: one is a
really good friend of mine(so I know she won't cancel) and the other
one canceled, but at least I knew it was coming, since I never received
her guest list in December! Since I have the guest lists already,
I will automatically send out the invites two weeks before the party,
so it gives the hosts less of an "out" to cancel their parties.

Now we will just have to wait and see if the guests will RSVP and show upsmileys/smiley36.gif!

Hi Nora - I hope things start to look up for you!! I've had 3 cancelations on Personal shopping orders it can get very frustrating- but 1 with a possible booking & a possible recruit. I have 3 bookins with a possible 1 more booking for a total of 4 so far for January & 1 booking for Feb/march. Most are waiting for Income taxes to get back & some ladies think thatit's to soon after christmas.I'm also entertaining the idea of hosting a tea party with a teaparty plan company sometime this month or next. Wouldn't that be fun?

Glad your dog is okay Nora!!
