I posted in the Biz Advice folder as well. I chose Mia Bella because I love the candles and I love the fact that I choose the way to build my business. I can do retail, fundraising or wholesale or all the above.


This is such a great home biz. We have outstanding customer service, weekly training and opportunity calls, yahoo groups and message boards all dedicated to help us succeed in this business. We get our own websites and banner links to promote our business.

There are so many resources at your disposal that you can't help but to succeed. Our commission structure is awesome on retail as well as residual income. I noticed you asked about selling on ebay with some of the other candle companies, we are not allowed to sell on ebay but with the many other ways to sell you do not need ebay.


We do craft shows/fairs, fundraising, consignments, wholesale, home parties, online parties, the skys the limit.

Do any of do the biggest majority of your business online?


What is the best way to sell for you...retail, online, fundraising?

I currently have been doing almost online only. I have sold to several wahm members and have had repeat orders. I have found retail to be the best immediate income and if you enjoy doing home parties there is alot to be made there. You can build your business online very easily by advertising and buying banner spots on various websites. I plan on putting my best foot forward this new year and obtaining fundraisers and working on home parties.


Everyone has different methods for selling, its all in how much time and effort you want to put into your new business. The more you do the more money you are going to make. ;)

of their own with CANDLES! I think that alot of people are finding that


fundraising can be so profitable so they really focus on that, residual


income also, there are so many ways to make money with this

I have built my business strictly online for the past year. I have meet some wonderful people this way.


I would have to say the best things for me in building my business has been online marketing and sales, retail to people that I have meet online, 2 fundrasiers here locally and one craft show. Also one think I did not want to do but has been my most successful aspect of this business is sponsoring others. I love the fact that I can help other help themselves. I have been so blessed with this business and want others to be as happy as me.

To start I built my business mostly online, however, I found out how
much I love doing craft shows and home parties and how easy it is to
sell offline that I tend to do more selling that way now. I still adore

Where I've sold the most is not online but in face to face retail sales. Don't get me wrong, I've had my share of online sales, and am thankful for each and every one! I've just personally had the most success in person. This is because I carry votives with me. They are able to smell them, look at them, and most importantly - ask me "what other kind do you have" smileys/smiley36.gifJust the look on their faces when they smell our candles for the first time is very funny to watch. Some melt with the love of the scent, some get all wide eyed, some ask if they are edible (jokingly of course) smileys/smiley36.gif


I let them know that our prices are reasonable, and as a matter of fact, are less expensive than the most well known candles they generally find in the malls. I also let them know that there should be no need to throw ours out when they are half burned because of the black soot that forms, because ours are virtually sootless and will burn clean and strong to the bottom. That generally surprises them completely.

We make 50% of our 16 oz Jar sales. It varies on other products. :)

It will also vary on how much you sell the candles for.

Hi Kimberlee!

I'm glad you found your way over to the Mia Bella board as a follow up on
your thread in the business advice forum. The opportunity with Scent-
Sations is (in my opinion) UNBEATABLE!

My favorite aspect of selling Mia Bella is how AWESOME the products are!
Rarely does someone smell a votive without telling me how great it is and
asking about the products, etc. They sell themselves, and because they
really are the best candles I've ever burned, my enthusiasm anf love for
the products shows.

I had been with two other sales companies trying to work from home over
the past 5 years. When I compared the compensation plan and earning
potential with this company to all the others, I realized that THIS was
going to be IT for me- my answer to a part time job from home with full-
time earnings. Before I found Scent -Sations (actually Mia Bella found ME)
my opinion was always "Ugh. Not another CANDLE company!" But these
are truly a cut above, and becoming a distributor was truly a life-
changing event. As an added bonus, my house always smells FANTASTIC
now! smileys/smiley36.gif I love the responses I get from people (even the pizza guy!)
when they come to my door.

I did read in the other folder you had a question about the case orders. That was an honest hestitation of mine at first too. That hesitation went away the moment I started showing the candles to my warm market, letting them smell.... and by the end of my first day I had 8 orders pre-paid - that paid for the entire case and then some! I just picked out 4 more scents to keep on hand that I knew would sell easily (considering the luck I had with my first day), and sure enough, within about 2 days they were gone. Do this method for two case orders, and the profits between the two give you enough cushion to put in a case order without one single order needed (if you want to have stock on hand). It's VERY easy to get into profit quickly.


When I first did my pros and cons with Scent-Sations, one of my cons was the lack of "variety" of sizes and types of candles. That turned out to be a "PRO"! Before Scent-Sations, I had customers previously that would buy "smaller"sizes from me because they weren't sure if they would like it, or just didn't want to spend a lot of money and I happened to have had a low cost option. Having just the one size jar, and votives for those that wanted something lower cost, was a definite plus to my business. Their choice was simple now, they no longer contemplate over what product they want. It's a simple 16 oz. jar or votives (I group them in 6 or 12)... the only contemplating they do now is choosing thescent smileys/smiley36.gifEdited by: dreamakr36

If you are looking for someone who you can pick up the phone and call, email and get a timely response and be part of growing and learning groups. Best of luck with your decision! I researched this biz for over a year before I decided it was for me! I am having a blast and my son is now a business partner with me. I cannot wait to teach him about sales and being the CEO of his own company some day!


The structure of the company and the product line (small) is what drew me in. I was working my booty off for peanuts with recruitingat my other company and I can make soooooo much more with the structure of this company!

This is not a hype company. It's such a great combination of wonderful candle makers who use the best healthiest products they can to create our products AND great extremely successful business partners who are taking this company on a very strong steady growth.


I never expected to have so much fun and create something this huge. I asked my friend to research many companies two years ago. Then I requested HEALTHY products with a GREAT COMPENSATION PLAN and an all around extremely successful team that trained and supported in all aspects of the business. MY FRIEND FOUND IT.


I was NOT a candle lover then due to the waxy ones and black emitting stuff ones. I first fell in love with my team, then the company, now I absolutely love these products and other's reactions to them.


It's been and continues to be an amazing scent-sational journey for me!

Thanks for the additional information. The reason I have decided on candles is everyone likes them, its truly a consumable so you have repeat business (hopefully), most everybody has 20 bucks or so to purchase a candle so its affordable and lastly I work a fulltime job out of the home and it is a physical position that requires I be outside 90% of the day. However, I only work 4 days so I will be able to come home fix dinner and do some work 4 days and Fri, Sat &amp; Sun I can either devote all three days or one whatever. Eventually i hope to make enough to quit my job but I have quite few financial goals I must meet. I have teenagers and I have one more set of braces to pay for. The just get more expensive as they get older. Anyway, I really feel that the candle business is the right fit for me if could only figure out which company LOLsmileys/smiley5.gif

Narrowing down the type of company you are interested in is a big step. I saw that you mentioned doing a pros and cons list which should be very helpful to narrow down the exact company. Have you gotten a sample from each company? I think this can make it easier for you also. I would be happy to send you one as I'm sure any other Mia Bella distributor would. Another reason I loved Mia Bella is because I did not want a company with a huge product line to have to inventory and demonstrate. I've been in other companies like that and I lost lots of money. I wanted something simple that everyone would love so this company fits me perfect.


Keep up with your research and I'm sure you'll pick the right company for you.
