Here's a suggested question from Frances (thanks Frances)
If you were trapped on an island what most prized possession would you want and who would you choose to be trapped with?</font>

Ok I will go first, everyone seems scared of this question. lol.
The most prized possesion that I would want is my photo album with pics from my wedding and pics of my kids. I would def would want my dh and kids to be on the island with me as well. Thats all I need and food lol.

After watching the TV show "Lost" I can't say what I would need the most. I suppose I would like a Bible with a picture of my family in it. I would rather they (my family) not be stranded with me so they can continue their lives (why should all of us be at a standstill?).
I figure I will need a higher"infinite intelligence" then I have to help me get out of the predicament.

LOL thats def one way to think of it. I love LOST by the way, its awesome.
I guess I would rather be with them and atleast see them grow up, my kids that is, than not know anything about them.

H-m-m-m. This is a tough one, if it's forever. I'd like my family and the Bible as well, I think. I think it would be wonderful to just spend time with my family and read the Bible without all the distractions of every-day life. Imagine it, ladies! No to-do list, no phone calls, no BILLS TO PAY - just playing outside on the beach all day. Sigh.

You guys are so deep.
Okay ... so let's say you're single and don't have a family yet, and you're only going to be there for ... how about six months?
Now, what's one thing you'd take and who would you be with?

Ok let's see............six months? I would definately have to have my Bible, no ifs ands or buts about it! As for who I would like with me that is hard because all the people I want (like my best friend, my son, my mom) I wouldn't want to take them away from their lives for that long...lol. I would definately have to be selfish and take my best friend with me:)

Ok ladies, this is too weird. How many of us are obsessed with Matthew Mcconaughey? He was my first thought before I even read down the post!
Second I guess I'd need something to crack open the coconuts like on that one Tom Hanks flick(?).

Matthew Mc???? said on Oprah the other day that he doesn't
use deoderant, preferring that natural smell instead.
So, if I were trapped on an island with HIM, I think I would need
something to freshen the air! smileys/smiley36.gif

Anyway-if it was for only 6 months, I would want to be stuck there with...hmm...the idea of being stuck with one person without any distractions is scary to me!!smileys/smiley36.gifI would prefer to have a dog with me!!
The one thing I would want? An overnight bag filled with goodies...edible stuff, a book, sunglasses, a blanket, lip gloss, bar of soap, as much stuff as I could cram in one bag!! (is that cheating?) Ok-I just had visions of me sitting on the sand with a Palm pilot in my hand, surfing the web and of course visiting here several times a day!! Hahahahaha!!!!

OK, if were permanently stranded, assuming no electricity of course, I'd take a box of 10 packages of paper and LOTS of pencils! And be stranded with my husband... he always carries his Victorinox, so that's how I'd sharpen the pencils. And he'd probably bring something else practical... like a shovel, or maybe his fishing rod case (4 rods)and tackle box. He's a minister, so we'd rely on his brain when we needed anything Biblical LOL.
If it were for 6 months, Val Kilmer. Didn't even have to think about that one. He's so well educated and off the wall we'd never run out of things to talk about. He's a flake, and so am I, so I think we'd get alongreally well. With so little to eat for that amount of time, he'd slim down fast and be super hot again! LOL And if there with him, forget the paper and pencils - I'd take my makeup/toiletries bag, definitely! ROFL!!

Okay 6 mos...lets see ...paint, canvas (so i can paint the scenery), paper, pen,(to write about the scenery, my thoughts, etc.)photography equipment (to take pictures of the scenery-my painting is not so good), wine (to put me in the mood to paint the scenery), lots of gourmet food (gotta eat), tent (gotta sleep), plenty of lounge wear, a few good books (romance, drama, intrigue), some music (smooth jazz-Boney James, etc.)
I wouldn't bring anyone, They would start talking and it would kill the mood. You can have sex right before you get stranded and it would probably hold you over for the six months anyway. smileys/smiley2.gif

Josh Lucas for sure (I thought Brad Pitt...nothing sexier than him naked in Troy but the whole Angelina thing makes me sick) he's gorgeous - I'm partial to Matthew as well and who was that guy in Black Hawk down (you know the SEAL) and what about Owen Wilson, he was awesome in Behind Enemy Lines (you can tell that we only go to my husband's flicks- which is not often). And if I have all of them around I really won't need anything except food...and a couple of good romance novels...

Oh, yum, Matthew McConaughey! I love it that you added that we should also imagine we're single, Cheryl, so that I didn't feel like I should put my DH on there. smileys/smiley36.gif
You guys are making me feel terrible. I didn't even finish reading the question all the way and I got past the "what's the one thing" part, and I thought, my laptop. Then I realized that there's no power and probably no Wi-Fi on the island, so I guess I'd have to say a nice, big stack of books and a hammock, to keep me busy while Matthew McConaughey's out trying to catch our dinner. Oh, and I would definitely have to have something to write in. Free time, and no work? I have lots and lots of writing to catch up on. I can't imagine anything more blissful.

lol Captain Jack Sparrow!
My favorite movie is Swiss Family Robinson- If I could have a way to rebuild that with my family and my dogs then I would say that.
Six months and single? Hmmm a leatherman and Gerard Butler. Yummy! Tall dark and handsome, great body, accent, he can sing(we could act out scenes from Phantom of the Opera). I've done survival training so I can live off the land and Gerard.

Well, hubby would be my first choice. Besides, he really is MacGyver like so that would be good. If I weren't being so "Deep" I'd have to go with Tom Hanks. He's already been trapped on an island so he probably knows what it's like, right? Oh, that was just a movie? And I thought it was real!!!smileys/smiley9.gif
What I would want would be a knife. Seems you could do a lot with a knife but if we are talking luxury items it would have to be a really long book (and hopefully a good one).

My daughter asks me this question couple of weeks ago. I told her I would want my comb, deodorant and lotion. She asked about food and I saidfood and water is already on the island. You can easily makefire (Tom Hanks in Castaway) and make a knife out of wood. What else do you need to survive...

6 months and single and one thing and who?
Considering that I have never married nor even lived
with a woman (no, I am not a homosexual and while I
don't hate them, I abhor what they do) and that I am
less than 6 months away from my 65th birthday, my
answer has to be: my Rosary and someone, whether male
or female, young or old-no matter-who knows how to
forage for food and also how to cook it. It would also
be advantageous if the person could speak or be able to
learn English or French or maybe Spanish.

Ok...lol...hate to be a spoiler but...the original question was:
If you were trapped on an island what most prized possession would you want and who would you choose to be trapped with?
I don't have a prized possession so I'll think on that and attack the "who" first.
I really wouldn't like the idea of being trapped on an island...so I'd pick Bill Gates to be trapped with. Melinda would reel him back in pretty darn quick, no expense spared, so I'd stick with Bill.
What possession would I want. Give me a pen and notebook, I could entertain myself til rescued.</span> And I could take notes on my discussions with Bill.

For the original question: My mother and a stack of great books and pen & paper. I wouldn't want to rob my children of their life but I would love to get my mother out of her rotten one.
For the six months & single?
Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie or Tim McGraw & Faith Hill....yes both of them, hey a girl can dream right but we'd all need our own toothbrushes and a Leatherman tool.
And jus so you all know, this would be my husbands fantasy as wellsmileys/smiley9.gif

My hubby, my kids and I were born and raised on an island.
I will guess the island of this question has wild animals and native fruits
and veggies. That said - I only need my man, our kids and our 2 canine
companions. We know how to fish (and certain fish taste better raw than
cooked, trust me on this one, lol), we've gone hunting before, and we
know how to make an inground oven and cook a pig in it. (not sure I can
make a fire by rubbing two sticks together, so having a flint rock would
be helpful)
ONE necessity - well, you can make shelter, and "beds" and "blankets",
you can make plates and cups, but I have never made a pot before. So I
think I would like to take a big cast iron pot so I can cook things over a
fire. You need to boil salt water to make it drinkable, so I'll need the pot
for that as well.
Seriously - shelter, food and minimal clothing to protect you from the
"elements" is all you need on an island. There are ways to use what's on
the island to make anything else you need - like a spear for fishing and
hunting. Coconut shells make great bowls or cups. The fibers from the
outer coconut husk are great for making fires. The "leaves" of the
Coconut or Palm trees can be woven into mats as beds and possibly
blankets. If there are wild pigs on the island, you have food, and you can
turn their hide into a form of clothing. Use the tusks to help remove
meat from a crab - or even to help scale a fish.
Am I being too logical???LMAO
OK - So I want my dh, our kids and 2 canines, AND a big cast iron pot.

If I were trapped on an Island, I would have to take my dog, Shadow, a Jack Russell Terrier - a well behaved one, I might add. I would also bring a few survival tools like an axe, hammer & saw. A large cooking pot would be very helpful and maybe a tin cup. Rain gear might be very smart too to weather the storms. Maybe I could take my 10 year old Grandson if it was only for 6 months. It would be a great learning experience for him as I am sure that he would learn very good survival skills which he is going to need soon to get along in this cruel world we live in.

This is a ? I think about often (and wish for sometimes too). Stuck there as life is now: my DH, he knows how to do everything to survive (wants to go on survivor, but i won't let him, don't want him to be gone that long) and possession .... that's tough. Just about everything you need can be made on the island, so i guess i would take a knife. (Dh says knife and our dog.)
For six months and single: again my DH and a knife.

If I was permanently stranded on an island, I'd like to say a boat, but that'd be cheating. I'd want some good music and pictures of my family. I'd probably need a large supply of tissues, too, because I'd be bawling knowing that I'm missing my babies growing up.
Matthew McC. is a cutie, but I saw him on one episode of Oprah and he seemed very full of himself.Took away the enjoyment for me because nothing's a bigger turnoff than a guy who thinks he's all that and we should be grateful for him. Blech!

If I were on a deserted island, the only thing I would want is my man, chocolate chip cookies and diet coke, We've actually talked about this scenario before!!
Not too nutitious....but the endorphins and dopamine being produced from that happines of our love would keep us healthy.
Sounds far fetched enough and crazy enough that it might just work.
I'll take the yacht out in the ocean LOOKING at the island, with all the amenities, comforts and abundance that we've created together!!
That's sounds better!!

I would spoil her with fresh picked fruit from the island and mud massages everyday and we'd hang out, laughand chat by the fire and drink our coffee. We'd hold hands and walk down the beach and enjoy all the magnificent scenery. It would be the best 6 months ever! Well.. OK, I'd definatelymiss my kids, maybe we could sneak them in with us!

If I'm stranded on an island, I would want both of my kids to be with me, my significant other, my dog and cat, all of the pictures of our lives together. as for food, there would be fresh fruits and vegetables to pick and eat with no pesticides. We would relax, and do what we wanted whenever we wanted. Peace and quiet at last! Maybe my blood pressure would go down!

Hello:
Great question!
Well, my choice of company would be my dear Spouse without whom my life would not be complete (you can tell her I said so - just so she knows hubby isn't insensitive ALL of the time!)
My most prized possesion to take along would be my notebook computer, equipped with a wireless Internet connection, of course, and a solar power generator.
The reason is, I love writing and I love Internet marketing, so I HAVE to take my computer!

I am in need of 10 different pokemon figures. I am missing Pupitar, Pineco, Snover, Azelf, Golem, Ralts, Claydol, Aron, Zapdos, and Budew. I was thinking about buying a collection from this LDU Company in China but I really don't need 288 pokemon figures, and that is the smallest collection that I see them listing on their website www.LDUcompany.com (http://www.LDUcompany.com)
I am trying to find a place to buy just the ten that I need. Has anyone ever bought pokemon characters from this LDU website? Oh yeah, here is a link to the page with all the pokemons http://www.liangdianup.com/pokemons_1.htm (http://www.liangdianup.com/pokemons_1.htm)

This is a great question.
their are several things that, I would like with me,
lots of good books.tooth brush and tooth paste as well as creams.
I think it would be alright, for a few days with out phones, internet etc. you would have to do some exploring
or you become lonely. Would be great, if your family was with you, you could sure spend some quality time to-gether.

If I were trapped for 6 months I would want my husband and dogs with me. What if Matthew M isn't at all like he is in the movies? Better to just be able to think and drool over him!

Be with my children and enjoy the new surroundings - free from the hassle of city life. Just like living in Sylt, coupled with health guru like Ernährung It's like living in a stress-free island.
To be sure, a wholesome island please....

I do a similar exercise in a journal writing class I teach.
I have the students choose 1 book, 1 person & 3 items besides the book. That's it.
I picked the Bible for my book as it has more "stories" and topics for discussion- you would never be bored!
I picked my 17 yr. old son as my one personover my SO and 29 yr. old son. The SO would be bored with out TV and he's notmuch of a reader.I'm not sure he wouldget intoreading the bible cover to cover not to mention getting to know me likehe never would at home.
The 29 yr. old is too pessimistic and unlike me, hequits on himself quite easily.
The 17 yr. old has worked on a dairy farm off & on for the last 3-4 yrs. He LOVES physical stuff, hard workand hecan carry a conversation. At his conference, his teachers just went on & on about how he participates so much in class and is always talking about stuff he read in the paper. I'm like "My Kid?" But seriously,I think he would be the one I would get along with the best.
I did this with my Girl Scouts and several said they would bring their cell phones! Geez!

I have often thought of that questions in the last few years of my life!
It came down to what is the most important thing to you if life!
After much thought and reflection I have to say that if I had everything but did not have God, I would have nothing! Or I if I had nothing other than God I would have EVERYTHING!
So I choose God!

I would definitely want to have my guitar with me and of course I would love to have my entire family with me like Swiss Family Robinson, but if I had to narrow it down to just one person I would pick my little three year old sister
Sabrina because she loves to cuddle and I would need someone to take care of to feel happy.

I have often thought of this question! If I could have one person with me it would be my husband. However, if there was ONLY one thing or person and that included God as my choice, I would chose GOD. Because if I had anything or everythingI wanted but did not have God with me, I would have NOTHING!

My bible and my husband.http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif Can't think of a better place to be stranded.... my username suggests how much I love the <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on">Caribbean</st1:place>. My husband truly is my best friend. I love my bible-- so those are my two. If I could choose 2 more, it would be my kids. My son and I have identical personalities which is a blessing AND a curse! We would certainly entertain one another if we were stranded! <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Frances, had a good idea, I think. But in the reality of things, he probably wouldn't be very interested in me...I am way to old for him! Maybe McGyver...he was always resourceful!
I, too, would like my Bible with me (and it probably would be since I usually always have it with me) I enjoy that reading because everytime I learn something that I didn't catch all the other times I've read it!
Luckily for me, most of my pictures of my family and all the great memories we've shared are in my head; so I guess I'd like to take my mind if I can find it in time before I go...of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most sometimes! LOL

My family and I just had this conversation at the dinner table a couple of nights ago! My husband and I both agreed that we would take satellite radio since it can work from anywhere. You'd need a solar powered radio though!

Stranded on and island...oh my! I wouldn't take my family because I would want them on the search team to help find me ;)
A most prized possession that I would take is a family photo album to keep my spirits up. A survival tool that I would want is matches so that I could light a fire to be warm, boil water to kill any parasites in order to drink it, and to cook shrimp, crab, lobster, fish, etc.!!! Wow, sounds like I would eat better an the island that I do now...lol :o

Only because the last answer sticks in my head, I'd I have to say, give me a spoon. I'm thinking it would be a great tool and I could eat rock soup with it.
