Hello Ladies and Gents!

I am going to go for a big push in Home Parties for the New Year and was wondering what works best for you to get your first few? My warm market is dead in the water as not a single one of them are into my products. smileys/smiley19.gifThats ok though, I would rather them not have a pity party lol.

So do you post flyers, advertise online locally? I could really use some pointers!

Thanks in advance!

Do you have kids in school? Approach moms and ask who they know that would enjoy getting free and discounted product. Give referral gifts at the party for those ladies that referred you to their friends.

Hi Frances,

Perhaps if you start with hosting your own parties at first. Set a date a few weeks in advance and have some invitations made and on hand. As you go through your day and you talk with people you can mention your party and hand them an invitation. I don't know if you can afford to do this with your products, but perhaps you can let them know that everyone receives a door prize.

Another suggestion would be to find some other local DS women and find out if they do events together. For instance, I could meet with a local candle rep, a toy rep, a scrapbooking rep, a "Your Company Here" rep smileys/smiley2.gifand myself. We could find a place to hold our event and we can all invite our guests.Your warm group might not be into your product, but they might like to come to see others products. As well, the others might have a list that is the same.

Each of you would make a short presentation. Keep it short or you'll begin to lose customers before everyone has a chance. Ask each rep there to donate a small prize. For each guest that is there for a presentation, they get a raffle ticket. When everyone is done, all raffle tickets go into the hat and winners are drawn.

There are community centers that you may be able to use and they will usually let you post your flyers there. If you're a member of a church, you may be able to rent a room from them and then you can invite anyone in the congregation who is interested to come. You can check your local library or other places of business that would welcome the increased traffic.

You could also do an open house and advertise it in a local paper if your company allows that.

Check with local womens groups and see if they are holding any events that they would like you to attend as a rep. Gather more contact information from them about other possible avenues.

Most of all, just get out there and start talking to people about your products. Even if you think that the place you are considering calling probably won't be interested...DO IT ANYWAY. You never know, the company might not be able to help but the person who answers may be or know someone who may be interested. And if nothing else, it will give you practice making those contacts.

Hope this helps and best of luck to you and your business!!!

Brenda

Hi Frances!

Try calling customers from previous parties, especially those who may have purchased a lot, and see if they would like to be included in your current party schedule. Offer an incentive to book within the month of January, nothing big, just an extra push to get the bookings going.

Good luck and Happy New Year!

Definately start with past customers, offer them a free candle for having 5 people in attendance.

Also, find places where you can set up a booth, like craft shows and expos.

And do lead boxes for a candle drawing at different places, like hair saloons.

Just remember, talk to everyone and ask for referrals. smileys/smiley36.gif

Thank you ladies so much for your advice. I will def work on my local customers, and see what I can come up with. Back in Nov. I tried to locate local reps from different companies to see if we could get together to do an open house, I could only find about 3 that were really interested. I still have their names and contact info so prehaps we can still try to do that.

My oldest daughter is in Kindergarten but I haven't been involved much this year since I have a baby at home. The 5 yr old is also in cheerleading with UPWARDS, BUT those people lol here are snobby they don't even look at you when you come into the room! smileys/smiley7.gif Sorry just a minor vent there. I have tried to get her school into fundraising but her pta pres...doesn't quite understand how to get back in touch with people thru email or phone calls. Neither does the fundraising chair....they are slackers I am amazed the school makes any money. OH well...theres 25 other schools atleast which I am trying to get info to for the next school year, as I have heard many times that they take the info and use it next fall.

I plan on putting flyers up at the local library, grocery stores, my dh's work and anywhere else that has a bulletin board.

Thanks again for all the great info, I will not give up, because I love parties!!!!!!!!!smileys/smiley32.gif

I am having a Bunco party at my house to beat the January Blahs. I have invited 40 people who SHOULD know my name (from church, past hostesses, etc.). I asked them that if they couldn't attend MY party, would they have one in their home to beat the blahs. We shall see!! But you are right, I did not work in December because I only had dead leads. Now I gotta liven up the waters!!

Theres no reason to stop at 5!! My goal is 5 COTM members to reach Diamond...but you know what I want more...http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley15.gifhahahahahahah

Ok seriously why sell yourself short. We know everyone loves a good party right? So the trick is to get them to host and leave the good times to US! I love parties, wish I was invited to some more often.

I have a friend who is gonna have a party(ds) at her house in Feb. Shes like you can bring your stuff then. I am like uh NO, first of all that would be stepping on their toes, its their party not mine. So I told her I would bring brochures etc and hand them out after the party. So hopefully someone would call me to book one. She works in a daycare, she said maybe about doing a party there and inviting th parents as well as the staff...so we will see.
