So... this past weekend, I hada table at a fitness location that was having an extraveganza that they were 'advertising' as a cash and carry mother's day event.

Here is the story.. on the evening before, I was holding a Spa-Garita foot spa to raise money for the Relay for Life cancer event that I'm doing in June and I didn't get to bed until 2am.... I had to wake up, finish packing up the car with the up-teen gift baskets that I put together for the ''extravaganza" and head out at 7am.

I got there... and HAD NO CUSTOMERS!!!! I was actually able to book a party w/the table next to me, but that was it!!

The way I looked at it was that I had ALL of these great gift baskets and no Forum to sell them in.... and my mind started racing...

I live in Rural America (MAINE)... and don't have a lot of exposer.. heck.. the population of the ENTIRE state of Maine could fit into the county I used to live in in Virginia....

So... I decided to pack all of my baskets in the back of my Explorer and make som "cold stops".... I hit up my local fire department and some car dealerships for mothers day gifts and sold $85 in my first stop!!

I plan on heading out again tomorrow to other male dominated businesses nearby and sell to the men who wait until the last minute to buy gifts for their wifes/mothers!

wish me luck!

You can do it too!!

Regina, that's so great! Way to step out of the zone and just do it! Out of curiosity, did you bring your baskets into the establishment with you to sell or did you go infirst and ask if there was any interest? I would love to see some pictures of your baskets! Do you have any you could post? I'd like to try doing some up but I'm not very confident about putting them together!

Way to go!

I walked in with one of my baskets in hand ... I said that I had a mobile spa business and that I'd put gift baskets together for mothers day and then asked if they'd finished their mother's day shopping yet.
I did a price range of $20 - $72... The $20 baskets had the spa express minis or the SYS minis w/some spa socks and pedicure set I picked up in the $1 isle at Target.

Because I was trying to get some business and more exposure for the productsI priced some of my baskets lower than the retailcost of the products, never mind what I used to put them together.... I figured I'm making 50% anyway, so I'll take a hit to get potential future business.

I wish I had taken pics...but I didn't... I want to put an album together that I can use to bring with me to show hubbys the types of things I can put together for different price ranges.

I used the ideas from last month's acheaver magazine... I had some flower pots with garden tools, seed packets, plant stakes, moss, white gloves and herbal serenity products.. I also found a stainless steel mixing bowl and lined it with a kitchen towel, added wooden spoons, a whisk, recipe cards and a liquid measurements magnet in there with some Spa Sugar products...
I noticed that men liked the baskets with 'gadgets' in them like the garden tools/kitchen tools in them vs. just the 'pretty' baskets...
