View Full Version : Leaving current company and leads

Hello ladies,

I was just put in an position that I had to actually turn down a lead. It was for my current company and since I plan to leave there soon I don't think it's right to get someone going and then leave them high and dry.

What I was wondering about it where to send the leads. Do you think that I should keep the leads within my downline just because they are my downline or should I send them where I think they will get the best support?

I know the simple answer to send them where they will get the best support, but then do you think I owe to my current downline to give them the leads the way I always have?

I have a some great friends in my downline, but then I have a friend here local who is a real go-getter when it comes to being a leader. Although I am not her upline, I have helped her out a lot and have really coached her since she first started.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering, the reason why this is going to be an issue is because my current company has a $1 sign up special. I have a feeling that some of my customers that have been on the fence about this will want to join up.Between that specialand the fact that they are starting a "hobbiest" type level I know they'll want to know.

I have several customers who have shown interest in knowing about sign up specials and I don't want them to miss out. Am I making too much of this? Maybe I am just PMSing and over emotional tonight. smileys/smiley5.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif

Please let me know your feedback soon. I don't like to let leads get cold.

Thanks again,

Brenda

Brenda, That's a tough one. I would definately first go with my downline if I received a lead. If I didn't feel I had a downline that was ready for the lead, then I would pass them onto someone I know would take care of them. I have a few downline that have been with me for over 6 months and have not even placed an order. So I definately wouldn't pass a lead onto them. I would need to think about what would be best for the lead also. Currently I have a few on my team that I would feel comfortable passing a lead onto so it wouldn't be an issue for me. If you are in doubt, go with who you feel comfortable with.

I've dealt with this in my past company. As I was leaving I received a very good lead and passed her name onto one of my team members. After a couple weeks went by I emailed the lead back and asked how things turned out for her. She said that my downline never got in touch with her and she was looking at a different company now. Although I felt very confident that this person would follow up, she never did. I would make sure you follow up with the lead in a couple of days to make sure the person you referred her to did follow up. Although I was "washing my hands of that company" and wouldn't benefit at all from that lead, I still like to provide good customer service and was disappointed that the ball was dropped on her.

Brenda - I can't wait for your new company to release it's catalog!!! I'm anxious to see what you'll be offering and for how much. I have a feeling I'll be agood customer.

I would send them where they will get the most help.

Hi Brenda!

You definitely need to put the prospective consultants needs first - so hook them up with someone who will serve them best.

Good luck!

Brenda, I'm where you are at right now. I've been passing on leads to the people I know will best support them. And for now, that is my upline...she may decide to pass them back downline, but I know she's been with the company a long time and will do what is best for each new lead.

Even when I did build my own downline with my original company, I didn't always take every lead...and didn't always pass them downline. Some leads needed/wanted local support or to be with a more experienced upline.

I think if you listen to the leads and refer them accordingly, you'll get a lot of appreciation and respect from all parties involved. :)

Thanks for all the great feedback here ladies. It really has helped. smileys/smiley1.gif

Just for the record, I wanted to mention that the reason I didn't go with passing leads up is that I have sometimes received leads from my upline that were a month old. Not veryreliable.

I keep looking at my downline that I currently have and there is just nobody who I think compares to this other gal. She is still within my uplines team so it isn't so bad. I have all the trust in the world that she would follow up and make a great upline for anyone. I'm actually hoping this new sign up incentives pushes her right into the same level of leadership as I am so she can go to the leadership conference in Feb.

Oh which brings me to another post....I'll have to post that and start another one. LOL

Tamra - I'll make sure you get a catalog ASAP. smileys/smiley4.gif

Thanks everyone, Brenda

Hi Brenda,

Customer Service should always COME FIRST with your customers. Always pass the lead to the person who respects their business the most. Follow your heart....

Brenda,

I know how you feel. Here is my view. You will do both the company you
are leaving, and this new lead the best, by giving it to the gal you KNOW will
do well with it. You want to do the best thig for all concerned, and I agree
with the consensus that has already been stated...

Thanks everyone for the input. I am now firm in my belief that my I will give all leads to Michele. She really has drive and I really like what I see in her. If only I could get her to come with me. LOL

No, to be serious though, she is very dedicate to her company. Oh I guess I can say the name since it's wouldn't be doing me any good. LOL She is with Leaving Prints Scrapbooking. She is really a terrific gal and I have more respect for her than I do many of my own downline.

If anyone is interested her website is www.weluv2scrap.com (http://www.weluv2scrap.com) One thing I know for sure is that she'll never let a lead go cold. That's for sure!!

Thanksagain for taking the time to help me ease my mind here. I do appreciate all input.
