Ok, so this is completely off the subject of party plan but this just disgusted me!
I signed up for myspace.com because I had heard it was a great way to network. Well, I set everything up and then didn't really know what to do so I went into groups and found 2 mommy groups that seemed pretty ok. I posted on one called the Mommy Loop and even got someone asking me for info on Discovery Toys on the very first response to my introduction post. So I was excited. Well, I joined the second one and introduced myself and nothing, which is fine. Trial and error on groups you like I suppose. Anyway, I went and visited the Mommy Loop one just to see if anyone else had posted anything interesting. Well when you go to them it shows pics of people that are members. Now remember, this is a MOMMY group. I scroll past the pictures to get down to the message board and I see all these pictures of women trying to be all sexy, one girl laid out on a couch in a tiny halter top with these tiny tiny shorts, she has her butt popped up in the air a bit so you can see her stuff hanging out with these like 6 inch stripper platform shoes on. Then I see this girl from the waist up with her shirt pulled up over her boobs and her hands covering her nipples. It was absolutely disgusting. Why is it that no matter where you go, everyone is thinking about sex and looking sexy and getting that kind of nasty attention. Do these girls think that the men in the Mommy Loop group, probably other members husbands, are going to think "wow, that's a classy, pretty gal, I'd like to have a conversation with her"?
What about these women's children? They are on there asking advice about things and talking about how their children are their lives, yadda yadda yadda and them presenting themselves in such smutty ways. What kind of opinion are people supposed to form about people that do that? I don't know, it just bugged me and I wanted to vent. All I could think of is Oh My gosh, what if these women's children walked in and saw what kind of pictures these women had up for everyone in the world to see or what if their mom's or dad's or aunts or uncles or grandparents saw that? How much would that hurt and embarrass them to know that that's how their daughter wanted the world to think of them?
I am so glad I don't have to look at trash here. Maybe I should not try and build my business with places like myspace.com Maybe I should stick to here and CWAHM.com where I know I don't have to see that mess. If anyone is a member of myspace and knows of any clean groups to join, please let me know because as of now, I'm scared to look anything else up,lol.

Nice. As computer savvy as kiddos are today, some of the moms may actually have thier own kids "google" them and find the photos.
Sick.

Myspace is an interesting place, it definitely seems to be more suited
to the younger crowd and unfortunately some "grown ups" there feel the
need to try to keep up with what the kids are doing. My husband
is a musician and has a myspace site(he is fully clothed in his picturessmileys/smiley2.gif
and he gets all kinds of interesting people asking to be added as
friends(lots of half dressed women). It is sad that so many women
feel the need to show off their bodies to everyone online. I
think I will leave the myspace stuff to the musicians and the kids)!

That's what I'm thinking too Sarah. Unless I can figure out how to find mature people with similar interests as mine or looking for legitimate work from home opportunities. But there are always going to be things that I don't care to see on any group or forum that's there. I guess I could post under business and entrepeneurs or something for people to just contact me if they would like to find out about Discovery Toys instead of me going looking for them. I don't know. I hate to not take advantage of an opportunity but I really don't want to see nudie or almost nudie pics everytime I search for something.
I always say that people need to remove themselves from situations that they know aren't right, so maybe I should practice what I preach eh? If I just leave it alone I won't have to look at that mess. Still makes me sad that I because I don't want to look at naked women and men I can't utilize the tools that are out there at most places.

I hope you stick to this website, I would forget the Myspace.com website- as far as I'm concerned women who do things like that are only hurting themselves in the long run. Whatever happened to women being women? without the smutt- it's sickening. Just my opinion.smileys/smiley1.gifRosalee- Designer- Home & Garden Party www.ywave.com/~zelmyrs/

Amen Rosalee! Women have enough to offer without having to present that as the first impression. We are amazing, complex, beautiful and sexy creatures. When all you present is the sexy part, well that's all that will get noticed and that doesn't last forever.

Hi Krystal,
I don't have any experience with MySpace, but I am a member of Ryze. It is a great networking place. I am sure they have "smutty" stuff somewhere, but I've never run across any. It's free to join and you can build your page as you like. The website is:
