Hey everyone,

Do any of you have any great resources for organizing your biz? What type of calendar do you use? Any online sources that you would recommend?

I really need help.

I am so excited about the New Year and want to make sure I am doing a better job of balancing my business and family.

Thanks.

I use my calendar in Outlook. I highlight my parties in purple (favorite color) and my kids classes in green, etc. I also have an excel spreadsheet for my parties that lists the party total, bookings, recruits, bonuses etc. (I have to start a 2006 soon!) The Glass Bracelet gives out day planners so I have that in my bag and take it everywhere.

I have a copy of my schedule (and family's) on the fridge, my DH office and my desk.

WOW Ellen! You are GOOD!

Can I hire you to get me organized? LOL.

I love the Outlook idea!

Does anyone have "to-do" lists that they use to balance personal to-do's and business to-dos? I know Stephen Covey uses "urgent, non-urgent, important" etc...

Any other catagories that you use?

I took a organization class in college and I am finally using what I learned! HA! I always make lists and thrive on crossing items off! I am a bit anal in that way...my dh on the otherhand is totally unorganized and thats why he makes me all these charts for my business and his. I am always working on a spreadsheet!

What party software do you use? Is it efficient? I cannot find anything that will REMIND me to do things.

I'm curious about that, too (party plan software). The only I can find that will remind me of when to do things is ACT! by Symantec which costs a fortune.

It doesn't remind me to do anything, but its fairly easy to input info.. you can input all your guests, parties what they ordered, and generate reports, etc.. mileage, expenses..

I got it when it was free and supposedly the guy charges for it now, and last time I tried to send it to some people it didn't work.. google mypartymanager and see if it comes up and maybe the guy will let you try it for free

What I have always done is to make a list the night before for the next day - I keep my list to 6 things - one list offor business and one list for personal. I keep them on the same pageand I put themin order by priority.

I still use a traditional datebook - it just works better for me - to schedulewhen I am doing what. Icolor code myworking hours, family events, etc. For example: I will highlight my working time for phone calls and appointments inpink, family time in yellow, dr. appts.and such inblue. This helps keep me organized and I know what I am doing when!

You can use Outlook to remind you to do a function. You can have repeating appointments like Every Monday at 10am, Call your Hostess. At 11 am Set your calendar, clean your office, do laundry.. whatever you want it to prompt you to do.

I am changing my stuff this year to a large monthly calendar only. I am dumping my planner. I have put all of my address/phone numbers in a Rolodex and on a spreadsheet and that is good for me. I want to work/seethe month in advance instead of weekly or daily.

I cannot color code. That is just not me! I would forget what color what is! smileys/smiley36.gif

My husband bought me a HUGE Desk Calendar. We write EVERYTHING down. This started due to my 7-year old coming to me one day:

She asked, "Can I go to Suzie's B-Day party on friday?"

My answer was "Yes"....

She then said to me, "Can I make it an appointment in your Calendar?"

So, we now all have our appointments on one LARGE calendar. My shows, one-on-ones, and trainings are done in Red, the rest in Blue.

If you don't have a desk, you could hang it on the wall.
