How have you gone about getting contacts? Do you usually just wait for people to contact you by advertising, or would mailing a letter out to different places work as well? I want to go about it the right way. I'm talking to one person about a fundraiser.She is a friend and owns her own dance studio. It is a small group but wooo hooo its a start!!! I wanted to look into more on fundraising for other groups as well, I just wanted to know what ways have worked for others to get an idea on how to get myself out there. Any info is appreciated!! Thank You!!!!

I always call first. Having been on PTA, I have watched packets and letters by the dozen land in the trash.
Call, ask for the person in charge of fundraising and ask "when do you have about 5 minutes for me to drop by with some information and a sample?"
The "sample" is what gets you in the door. I carry in a basket with 4 jars, a votive in a container for a sample and paperwork, right from the fundraising guide.
The candles do the rest!

Jessica, I did a lotof fundraisers at another company and I found that if you actually have a referral from a parent/or teacher, then you can get in to get an appointment a lot easier. Make sure you talk with everyone you know to see if they know of any teams/organizations, etc, that do fundraisers. This way you can say Hi, this is ____, Johnny Smith's mom, Kathy said that I should meet with you to present a wonderful new fundraiser, when is the best time for you?
Chances are, they will listen and be more receptive if you have someones name as a referral.
