Any recommendations for a very flexible and customizable shopping cart?
I have a standard shopping cart (and it's great) that I offer to my customers. But occasionally I get a client who needs something completely customizable.
I would appreciate suggestions for both stand alone shopping carts (that can be integrated with an existing site) and website/shopping cart solutions.

I highly recommend x-cart. I recently created an site using
x-cart with PayPal for payment processor. It has a lot of "out of
the box" features, excellent customer service and reasonable
customization rates($25/hr for customized options) if you need
something extra special.
