has anyone ever had their identity stolen from searching for jobs, i am afraid that mine would get stolen for sending my resume to a fraudulent person after the fact.

The only personal information your resume for a wahj needs is name, city, state, phone # and email. I always use my cell phone and let it go to voicemail. I have several email accounts I use for job apps and other things that require email addresses. My main address I only give to friends, family and people I know and trust. Edited by: dlandry

Ditto to dlandry. You would definitely want to edit you resume with just the bare bones information.

On my resume I only post my name and email addy. If the employer is interested they will email and ask for a call back number.

I have two versions of my resume. I have one that just has my name and email and no city information about my work history. Then I have a regular one that I have used for legitimate jobs (either out of the home or not).

Don't look now but someone can steal your identity from your own trash own or the trash can from almost anyplace you do business. There are lots of places you go ONLINE to pay to receive ss#'s so I wouldn't worry about resumes LOL

One great reason to invest in a cross-cutter shredder to run junk mail and typed addressed on envelopes through. I know I did and can fill a brown grocery bag to put out for our recycling every two weeks! I got mine through Staples when they were on clearance for about 70% off three years ago. Still works great! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

And, it's a great stress reducer as well. Nothing like seeing a huge pile of paper go down to nothing. Edited by: Serenity316

A few years ago, a guy up in NJ got my credit card information with a keylogger and subscribed to a porn site. I never did hear back from the police on whether or not they caught him.

Identity theft can happen in many different ways. Be it DMV, Soc. Sec., Financial, Criminal or Medical. The issues are when you find out is has happened and then the restoration process.
