I am new to party plans and was wondering how far any of you will travel to do a party. I am about an hour and 15 minutes from the city and live in a town of about 10,000. Are any of you from a small town and have trouble finding new people to host parties?

Hi there – I’m not in a small town, but I have a suggestion.
<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Create a hostess group. There can be 6 to a group (this will mean a six month commitment to each hostess) and each one of them agree to host parties in turn. Each member agrees to spending $40 each month to give the current hostess at least a $240 party. It is up to her to get outside orders, invite extra guests, and get outside bookings, to boost her own class.
Now, depending on what we find out about our hostess reward program, I might revise this, but I intend to write up a whole program for this type of group. One option I intend to include and this is one I’ve learned through experience, is that each member should have the option of finding an outside order to replace their own if they are unable to honor the $40 commitment.
Oh and one other thing to mention, make sure that your group members are excited about doing it. If they just sign up to help out a friend, they may not follow through.
Hope this helps you or at least gives you some ideas.

10,000 still is a lot of people to hit! I've traveled an hour each way to parties, sometimes a lot more with traffic!! What I always encourage is that I need a consultant in their area, and I've offered my commission towards kit purchase if someone signs up within a week of the party. I did that with a few hosts who were interested to cinch the deal.
We don't have an earn the kit, so that's what I did.

It depends on your average earnings per show and how comfortable you are with time/money.
Here is an idea you can use on your own---We have a minimum qualifying show of $100 in my Company and the Hostess receives a Bonus of $25 Free Jewelry if she gets that $100 in Pre-Orders before the show. I really push for those Pre-Orders, especially if I am going to travel more than an hour for a show. I know before I leave my house that I have made $50. That covers my time and gas, and assures her that she has Hostess Benefits.
***I will travel anywhere to do a Training Show for a new jeweler. It is worth it, even if I have to fly.

65 mile radius from my house is my limit.

My town is about 1/2 the size of yours but I have about that many people to work with in the surrounding towns about 15 minutes from me. I find MOST of my business within that radius. I've tried going farther (up to 2 hours) but it's rare for me to do it (maybe every couple of months) and When I have gone 2 hours away, it's hardly been worth it, but I've done it mostly to try to recruit. I think if you "bloom where you're planted" you'll find lots of potential!

1828 miles across the US to train my friend and host her first show...which resulted in the recruiting of 5 women and was worth every penny. I know not everyone can do this...but you asked! *grin*

I have traveled as far as 4 hours from home to do a party, but my cutoff is really an hour. What I would recommend, decide how far you are willing to travel, then get out a map, sit down, and figure out what towns are within that driving distance. Then start targeting each one! I am very visual, so what I did was make a paper with a big circle, with my hometown in the center, then out from that, I would list the towns in my area. Then, I would highlight each one as I targeted that town! It is fun and gives you a sense of accomplishment!

about an hour and a half one way is my usual limit. I will go further if I know my hostess is committed to having a successful party and has lots of outside orders and plenty of RSVP's. I mean, if someone told you that if you drove 150 miles to go pick up $250+, would you do it?smileys/smiley2.gif

I will travel pretty far, simply because our company is so new, and we do not have consultants everywhere. I have team members all over, and am always willing to travel to get more! :)
edited to add...my upline lives in a town of 3,000, not near any major cities and is having fantastic success. in my observations, in smaller communities people view the home party as a more social event, plus there is not a lot of great shopping to compete with you! I live near a large city, and I find people tend to be running, running, running all the time, and there is every store and product you could want right here. Edited by: TMartin
